The University of Virginia's School of Engineering of Applied Sciences seeks candidates for a Research Associate position with expertise in semiconductor device physics and optoelectronics to support a number of research initiatives in the Charles L. Brown Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering.

The incumbent is expected to take the lead on programs with collaborators at other universities as well as direct the work of graduate students working in the same area as the candidate. Compensation is commensurate with experience and qualifications.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Candidates must have a PhD in electrical engineering, applied physics, or other field related to optoelectronic device technology by the appointment start date and experience with design, fabrication, and characterization of optoelectronic and radio frequency devices, with preference for knowledge of and experience in heterogeneous integration technologies and Indium Phosphide photodiodes and Gallium Arsenide Schottky diodes.

Preference will be given to candidates with familiarity with the operation and maintenance of semiconductor parameter analyzers, semiconductor wafer bonder, high-frequency vector network analyzers, and apparatus to measure photodiode bandwidth and quantum efficiency. Experience in photomask layout, design of passive microwave components, and cleanroom microfabrication techniques is also preferred.
