Editasis seeking a highly motivated Research Associate I/II to join our ex vivopharmacology group. The candidate will be responsible for conductingpreclinical animal studies to support the development of gene-editing based exvivo cell therapies in multiple disease areas, including sickle cell diseaseand beta-thalassemia. The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic teamand will interact with the discovery, platform, process development groups, aswell as contract research organizations. The successful candidate shoulddemonstrate strong work ethics and ability to work in a fast-paced and highlydemanding work environment.

KeyResponsibilities

  • Executein vivo studies including xenotransplantation of human hematopoietic stem andprogenitor cells in immunodeficient mice.

  • Performroutine injections (sc, ip, iv) in mice, monitor animal health, collect bloodsamples, perform necropsies.

  • Establishnew animal models as needed.

  • Cultureprimary cells and cell lines.

  • Performbasic molecular biology work such as DNA and RNA extraction and PCR.

Execute laboratory studies in support of process development, process scale-up and process scale-down for the production of vaccine candidates.2 .Produce cell culture media, solutions, and buffers in support of lab scale vaccine production.3. Passage mammalian cells and assist in cell culture scale-up.3. Assist in preparing and analyzing vaccine production samples.4. Prepare technical reports, summaries, protocols, and quantitative analyses of experimental procedures, when required.5. Coordinate information exchange between functional groups within the company including Formulation Development, Analytical Development, and Discovery groups.6. Operate bioprocessing equipment such as bioreactors, ultrafiltration, and chromatography units. ACCOUNTABILITIES:1. Perform a wide variety of technical procedures and operate a wide variety of lab instrumentation/computer platforms with minimal supervision.2. Effectively analyze and summarize experimental outcomes, record experimental procedures and raw and analyzed data.3. Develop methods to improve existing techniques and/or efficiencies EDUCATION, BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:1. BS in Physical or Life Sciences with a minimum of 2 years industry experience.2. Experience with cell culture techniques including manual cultivation of cells in small scale flasks and operation of stirred tank and/or packed bed bioreactors OR experience with purification techniques including cell harvest technologies, preparative chromatography and normal and tangential flow filtration techniques required.3. Experience with single-use cell culture and/or purification technologies strongly desired4. Experience with analytical methods used in support of process development strongly desired5. Excellent oral and written communication skills required6. Well organized and detail oriented, able to effectively prioritize, interact cooperatively and effectively with others in a team environment, and consistently demonstrate reliability and responsibility.7. Comply with safety practices and standard operating procedures.8. Exhibit and promote Core Competencies.9. Possess basic working knowledge of general chemistry and biology/biochemistry.10. Be well organized and detail oriented, effectively prioritize, eager to learn, interact cooperatively and effectively with others in a team environment, and consistently demonstrate reliability and responsibility.11. Possess good oral and written communication skills.12. Possess word processing, data entry, data presentation and analysis computer skills.13.
