The Research Associate III possesses a strong desire to grow scientifically and contribute to the CFF mission of finding a cure for CF. Duties include independently performing laboratory experiments using standard techniques and equipment. Perform calculations to complete research test results; collate data; and perform analysis of lab results for discussion with supervisor. Collaborate across project and program teams to help develop and support fit-for-purpose NGS solutions and assay technologies. Troubleshoots experiments and communicate results to the Genomics and Bioinformatics teams.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Hands on preparation of various NGS libraries methods including Genotype by Sequencing (GBS), DNAseq, ChIPseq, ATACseq, 10X Genomics SCseq, RNAseq, and Novel long read mRNA isoform.
Operation and maintenance of Illumina and Nanopore sequencing platforms.
Troubleshooting and Quality Control of NGS experiments in collaboration with manager and Genomics team members.
Weekly participation in joint Genomics and Bioinformatics team meetings for discussion of data and suggested next steps.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Bachelor of Science in Life Sciences or Related Field and minimum of four (4) years of R&D Laboratory Experience or Master's with a minimum of two (2) years' experience in biotech or pharmaceutical industry.
Experience with basic molecular biology techniques including DNA/RNA extraction, quantitation (ddPCR, qPCR, nanodrop, Qubit), library construction, quality control is required.
Familiarity with basic NGS data analysis approaches is a plus.
Excellent organizational and communication skills while self-motivated, detail oriented, and flexible.
Detail-oriented and capable of multi-tasking in a dynamic team.
Commute to lab every workday - Must have access to reliable transportation.
Occasional weekend work in the lab.
Annual/Biannual travel to scientific or technology-focused meetings as necessary.
Sitting, bending, reaching, and walking.
Ability to lift heavy objects (not to exceed 30 lbs.) for set-up of lab equipment.
