Sorrento Therapeutics' is seeking an experienced Research Associate who will be responsible for the development and implementation of in vitro functional T cell assays to support pre-clinical validation of CAR-T cellular therapies against cancer. The individual must have knowledge and hands on experience in CAR-T, cell culture, Flow cytometry and T cell biology.


  • Design and execute experiments for development of preclinical CAR-T therapies

  • Isolate, expand, and manipulate T cells

  • Perform in vitro functional assays measing cellular activation, cytokine release, proliferation and killing

  • Characterize T cells by flow cytometry (FACS)

  • Analyze and interpret experimental data and present findings to colleagues on a weekly basis

  • Coordinate with multiple scientists for scheduling and execution of experiments


  • Bachelor's Degree in Immunology, Molecular Biology or related disciplines with 1-2 years relevant experience or Master's Degree with 0-2 years relevant experience

  • Knowledge of cellular and/or tumor immunology principles, technologies, and experimental techniques (cell culture, in vitro cellular assays, flow cytometry)

  • Expertise in the characterization, culture, expansion, and manipulation of T cells

  • Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and organizational skills

  • Good oral and written communication skills

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with groups

This is an opportunity to work within the fast paced environment at AnaptysBio, which is a clinical-stage antibody development company. As a key member within the Cell Biology department, the successful candidate will contribute to the discovery efforts to identify, characterize and advance research in pre-clinical stage programs. Essential Functions * Support discovery efforts for pre-clinical programs, including antibody characterization, binding assays, ELISA, flow cytometry, tissue culture of mammalian cells, and execution of existing pharmacology assays commonly utilized in the course of immunology research and antibody discovery. * Design and execute bioanalytical experiments in support of discovery research portfolio goals. * Maintain cell lines needed for cell biology experiments. * Enrich specific cell types from human whole blood to run pharmacology assays that characterize the biology of discovery stage assets. * Execute, and improvise as needed, assays that utilize plate based formats, such as ELISAs, ELISpots, proliferation assays, Luminex assays, and MSD assays. * Maintain an electronic lab notebook and regularly present data to supervisors and project leaders. * Manages and maintains equipment, reagents and dedicated laboratory environment needed to carry out assignments. * Experience developing, implementing and troubleshooting MSD, Luminex and ELISA based assays. * Proficient at working independently as well as in cross-functional team settings. * Excellent organizational and collaborative experience required for extensive interactions with team members. * Experience in inflammatory disorders or immune-oncology desired. Work Environment * Position may require occasional evening and/or weekend commitment * Position may require working with biological and/or chemical hazards * Position might require lifting up to 20 pounds Requirements * Theoretical knowledge typically achieved through a related four-year college experience, such as a Bachelor's degree in biological sciences. A working knowledge of immunology is a plus. * Two years of pharmaceutical industry experience supporting pharmacology for discovery stage programs. * Hands-on experience with the development, validation, and implementation of cell-based pharmacology assays to provide high quality results in support of therapeutic project goals. * Hands-on experience with flow cytometry is a plus. * Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint Anaptysbio, Inc.
