The Chemical Biology group is responsible for guiding the identification and development of DUBTACs through the establishment of cutting-edge mass spectrometry (MS) platforms. We are seeking to hire a motivated and diligent Research Associate to support our efforts. The ideal candidate is an open-minded, flexible and curious team player, who enjoys problem solving and collaborating with other team members to further the research objectives of our company. This is primarily a lab-based position focused on performing a variety of proteomics workflows, as well as cell-based and biochemical assays focused on the generation of samples for our MS platforms. The ideal candidate should have the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, as well as perform data analysis and interpreting large datasets.
Key Responsibilities:
Evaluate the potency and engagement of DUBTACs and recruiter molecules against targets using proteomics, such as desthiobiotin pulldowns.
Cultivate various mammalian cell lines to explore target engagement and mechanism of action.
Collaborate with team members to design and implement proteomics experiments for quantifying protein abundance and modifications within cellular contexts.
Handle a large volume of samples for collaborative projects, adapting and optimizing methods as needed for specific project requirements.
Prepare and isolate samples for proteomics studies utilizing cell culture techniques, immunoprecipitation, subcellular fractionation methods, and protein sample preparation.
Operate and maintain basic laboratory instrumentation, liquid handling automation, and LCMS instrumentation.
Conduct detailed LC- and nanoLC-MS/MS analyses of complex, biologically derived proteins and peptides, including post-translational modifications.
Utilize laboratory automation instrumentation to execute established proteomic workflows efficiently.
Perform comprehensive data analysis using software such as MassPike, Skyline, and other proteomics tools.
Ensure timely and accurate data processing to meet project deadlines and objectives.
Document analysis results and insights in a reproducible manner, communicating findings to internal teams.
Manage supply orders and maintain stock of common expendables and reagents for the Proteomics lab.
Prepare detailed technical documents outlining procedures and summarizing results.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Biology, Biology, or a related scientific field, coupled with 1-2 years of laboratory experience.
Proficiency in mammalian tissue culture, including maintaining cell lines at various scales and conducting cell-based assays and analyses.
Prior experience in proteomic sample preparation.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Self-motivated with a "can-do" attitude.
Familiarity with high-throughput automation and liquid handling systems.
Working knowledge of, or willingness to learn, LC-MS/MS techniques for protein and peptide analysis.
Exceptional organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail, and adeptness in documentation.
Ability to prioritize tasks, multitask efficiently, and manage time effectively.
Excellent communication and presentation abilities, with a collaborative approach to working across functional teams.
Eagerness to contribute to groundbreaking advancements in a dynamic and fast-paced startup setting.
