We are looking for an outstanding Research Associate 2 to join the Advanced Engineering group within Illumina's Research & Technology Development organization. The selected candidate for this position will work with a cross-disciplinary team of scientists and engineers to solve challenging chemistry, molecular biology, and engineering problems. Through these collaborations, she/he will make direct and meaningful contributions to Illumina's core DNA sequencing and library prep technologies.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
General responsibilities for this position include but not limited to: preparing novel reagent formulations, implementing new surface chemistry protocols, testing protocols on new breadboard setup, NGS library preparation, DNA sequencing using Illumina platforms, and experimental data analysis. The ideal candidate must have good wet-lab skills, a solid understanding of molecular biology techniques, and working knowledge in chemistry, bio-engineering or related fields.
The ideal candidate must be a highly motivated individual, and she/he is able to deliver quality results in a timely manner with little supervision. Responsibilities for this position may change based on project priorities, preferences will be given to candidates that have demonstrated their ability to adapt and thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced environment in the past.
BS or MS in Molecular Biology, Bio-engineering, Biochemistry, Chemistry, or related fields
Hands on research experience: BS candidates 2+ years, MS candidates 1+ year
Prior knowledge/experience with Illumina's NGS technology
Interdisciplinary technical background preferred
Highly motivated individual with great work ethics
Good communication skills
Creative problem-solving skills
Excellent attention to details
Cheerful and energetic attitude would be a plus
