Summary:

Perform formulation and process development studies to support early and late phase programs.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct experiments and analyze results leading to the development of robust formulations for early and late phrase programs

  • Execute studies including pre-formulation characterization, liquid and lyophilized, and solid dosage formulation development, stability studies, shipping and handling studies, evaluation of material for use in toxicology and clinical settings

  • Process data and present findings to FDPS team and project teams

  • Contribute to technical reports and prepare selected technical reports

  • Assume responsibility for more sophisticated lab equipment as subject matter expert

  • Take lead on selected projects and initiatives

Qualifications:

  • MS or BS +2 years of formulation or analytical experience in the academic setting or biotechnology/pharmaceutical industry

  • Good problem-solving skills

  • Ability to function as a team player as well as work independently in experimental design, implementation and results interpretation

  • Excellent analytical mindset and skills including hands-on experience with some of the chromatographic (e.g. HPLC, UPLC), electrophoretic (e.g. CE-SDS, iCIEF) techniques, or other relevant analytical methods (Karl Fischer, DSC, XRPD, CD, FTIR, or MS)

  • Strong fundamental knowledge of chemistry, formulation stability, and analytical principles

  • Exposure to process transfer, manufacturing support, and GMP regulation is a plus

Education:

  • BS in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, physical chemistry, or analytical chemistry

This is a six-month contract position in Seattle, WA. The RA will be responsible for synthesis of complex organic compounds: dyes, nucleosides, phosphoramidites and modified solid supports. Responsibilities: * Development of safe and cost-efficient processes for production of chemical reagents for oligonucleotides under regulated environment * Synthesis of key intermediates, final reagents and starting materials to be used in research and process development projects. * Effective use of scientific literature and databases for organic synthesis. * Discovery and synthesis of new reagents for PCR and detection of nucleic acids. * Optimization of synthetic routes and process development of the steps. * Validation of developed synthetic routes. * Provide all documents necessary for Product Transfer to manufacturing. * Scale-up of the reagents and building inventory of research-grade reagents to support R&D and assay development activities Qualifications * Must be proficient in basic organic chemistry laboratory techniques. * Skilled in the purification of products by chromatography, crystallization or distillation. * Able to operate NMR, HPLC and LC/MS instruments as well as interpret the data. * Conduct literature searches and keep up to date on relevant science. * Industry Laboratory experience with synthetic organic chemistry. * B.S. or M.S. in Chemistry or Biochemistry.
