May exercise technical discretion in the design, execution, and interpretation of experiments that contribute to project strategies. The Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine (HJF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing military medicine.

We serve military, medical, academic and government clients by administering, managing and supporting preeminent scientific programs that benefit members of the armed forces and civilians alike. Since its founding in 1983, HJF has served as a vital link between the military medical community and its federal and private partners. HJF's support and administrative capabilities allow military medical researchers and clinicians to maintain their scientific focus and accomplish their research goals.

Performs research and/or development with other scientific and technical staff. Exercises technical discretion in the design, execution, and interpretation of experiments that contribute to project strategies. Performs limited analysis and interpretation of results.

We are seeking a focused and motivated scientist who has completed their Master's in Cell and Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Cancer Biology or related fields and is looking to continue their training. Our lab is funded by the NIH (NICHD and NIGMS) to assess two major initiatives: 1) Assessment of processes required for genome maintenance (DNA repair, recombination, and chromosome segregation) during mitosis and meiosis. 2) Modeling human gonad development using organoid culture to understand human reproductive development and disease. We seek a candidate for initiating and carrying out research projects in collaboration with a research team.

The ideal candidate will have experience with mouse models and/or mammalian cell culture, particularly human embryonic/pluripotent stem cell culture. An application will also be bolstered by knowledge in methods such as fluorescence microscopy (live cell imaging and/or immunofluorescence microscopy), immuno-histology, molecular biology (DNA cloning, RT-PCR, and protein expression/purification, CRISPR/Cas9 genomic engineering), co-immunoprecipitation, gene targeting/transgenic techniques, and biochemical assays including ELISA, colorimetric, fluorometric, and luminescent assays. Experience with single-cell analyses such as RNA-seq, ATACseq, ChIPseq, etc. are also of interest for our research objectives.

This position will be in support of the Department of Biochemistry in the lab of Dr. Philip Jordan. Responsibilities Performs routine data analysis and basic interpretation, and verifies and corrects data entry.

Trains junior laboratory staff in laboratory techniques and processes, as needed. Conducts research in collaboration with other scientific and technical staff. Performs complex laboratory tests, determinations, and analyses involving multiple procedures and a variety of technical approaches.

Documents current or new procedures or protocols for sample selection, data collection, data processing, and/or statistical estimation. Analyzes and prepares reagent and/or assay product documentation. Organizes and procures needed reagents, performs experiments, analyzes data, and documents results.

May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for role. Qualifications Education and Experience Master's Degree Minimum of 3-5 years' experience required Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of complex laboratory procedures Ability to meet deadlines of projects Good communication and analytical skills.

Ability to obtain a T1 Public Trust. Work Environment This position will take place primarily in a laboratory setting. Some positions or sites may require that the incumbent be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
