Summary of Job Duties:

Responsible for ingredient research, formulation, and product substantiation of simple and complex dietary supplement products. Utilize research, writing and critical thinking and analysis skills to evaluate and summarize scientific literature relating to ingredient/product claims and safety. Support R&D in all details pertaining to the development of new products, product substantiations, marketing collateral and sales trainings. Potential to train and oversee junior research associates.

Specific Job Duties:

  • Provide research support for R&D and other departments at Threshold to support new and existing products. This will include carrying out thorough research of the scientific literature, providing clear and concise written summaries on nutrients and botanicals. Research resources for these documents may include, but are not limited to, clinical studies, internet databases, in-house research library, technical documents/books, and raw material supplier information.

  • Participate in the feasibility process relating to new product formulations and reformulations, including ingredient research, creating formula spreadsheets, competitive product/price comparisons and product substantiations.

  • Collaborate with in-house and out-of-house resources to create unique dietary supplements for the Source Naturals brand. This includes communicating clearly and professionally with colleagues in other departments, as well as representing Threshold in a professional and courteous manner when meeting with representatives from other companies.

  • Support the department in development of marketing collateral and sales training. The RA-II will interface with marketing, sales and education regarding marketing and sales materials, training presentations, structure/function claims, and label content. The RA-II will provide ongoing support for manufacturing, sales, marketing, QC, and purchasing.

  • Perform all other tasks as assigned by Threshold Management.


Minimum Qualifications Required:

  • Minimum Master's Degree in Nutrition, or related field.

  • Minimum 2 years work experience in the dietary supplement industry or related field.

  • Experience in writing scientific documents specific to nutrition and health.

  • Good analytical skills, excellent written and oral communication skills.

Skills and/or Training Desired:

  • Extensive knowledge of the therapeutic use of nutrition and botanicals.

  • Experience in writing structure/function claim substantiation.

  • Knowledge of FDA regulations for the dietary supplement industry and experience with compliance related communications with the FDA.
