About this Role:

The Research Associate works directly with a team of analysts who research, write, and publish reports to help make digital business and retail professionals successful in their roles.

Responsibilities

Research

  • Learn about the retail industry and how it is evolving in global markets.

  • Provide timely and value-added research support for designated analysts, and provide backup to other Research Associates on the team.

  • Schedule, coordinate, and conduct customer reference and vendor interviews, as needed.

  • Conduct secondary research for published reports using industry sources, including competitive assessment and third-party data analysis.

  • Project manage the research production process for our methodology-based research such as Forrester Wave vendor evaluations, Forrester Tech Tide reports, Now Techs, and New Techs.

Data Analysis

  • Assist in creating survey questions and fulfilling surveys to collect data.

  • Analyze data and create graphics.

  • Learn and be responsible for quantitative work with Forrester's data.

  • Assist in building analytical models, maturity models, self-assessment tools, etc. to support analysts' research.

Client Deliverables

  • Provide support for presentation and graphics creation for Forrester events, advisory, consulting, conferences, webinars, etc.

Additional Team Support

  • Coordinate use of social media platforms (blogs, Twitter, online community) in the research and publishing process.

  • Manage vendor community contacts.

  • Draft short written pieces to support analysts.

  • Assist the research director and analysts with collecting and analyzing team performance metrics through data dashboards.

Qualifications

  • A B.A./B.S., with a strong academic record. All undergraduate majors are welcome to apply; any quantitative or statistics interest is a major plus.

  • Demonstrated strong written and oral communication skills.

  • One to two years of varied undergraduate or postgraduate work experience.

  • A working knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet software and other collaboration tools.

  • Strong project management skills.

  • Attention to detail and to building reusable resources like survey questions and formatted data outputs.

  • Demonstrated interest in learning about consumers and technology and how digital is transforming businesses.

The primary duties will include but are not limited to: * Providing daily support for research project including recruiting subjects, enrolling study participants and scheduling other research-related meetings; * Assisting in the staffing of research study visits, including overseeing logistics, communicating with participants and preparing materials for both staff and participant use; * Conducting observations and collecting survey data on enrolled study participants; * Experience working with confidential data and maintaining confidentiality, privacy and integrity in professional interactions; * Handling data entry and database management; * Assisting with research and manuscript preparation for publication and dissemination of results, including conducting literature searchers, article summaries and basic coding and analysis; * Contributing to the development of study-related documents and/or materials; * Performing other related duties as assigned. This is a grant-funded position and employment is contingent upon continued funding. Minimum Qualifications for Grade Applicant MUST meet these minimum qualifications to be considered an applicant-Requires a bachelor's degree and at least three (2) years of related experience or equivalent in education, training and experience. * Excellent communication, organizational and database management skills; * Excellent quantitative and qualitative data analytic skills; * Computer fluency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and statistical software (SPSS/SAS/Stata/R); * Ability to organize and perform multiple tasks and meet deadlines with minimal supervision; and * Experience with vulnerable populations and certified training in HIPPA Compliance and Human Subjects protection is required.
