Overall Project Objectives
The main focus of the project will be the role of government in a particular form of climate intervention that is being discussed now: atmospheric carbon reduction.

The principal investigation will include the following tasks:

  1. Research, document and analyze information on the atmospheric carbon dioxide removal methods currently being considered; and
  2. Assess the feasibility of developing a green cost-benefit analysis tool that public officials and other non-scientific public leaders could use to evaluate the efficacy of alternative CO2 removal methods in terms of meeting public needs.

Examples of work tasks to be performed by assistant:

  • Summarize information from 2019 congressional testimony
The Energy 202: Congress has held at least 15 climate hearings since Democrats won the House By Dino Grandoni March 7 2019
    a. Obtain a list of the 15 hearings
    b. Prepare a 2-3 page summary; show:

  • Hearing Title & topics covered

  • Name of committee that held the hearing

  • Information on each Committee Chair, Members, affiliations
    c. For hearings that contain relevant info -- Review testimony to see if there is information on:

  • Carbon Capture & Storage/Carbon Removal

  • metrics on atmospheric CO2 reduction

  • metrics/tools for assessing/evaluating the efficiency of atmospheric CO2 removal

  • Review & summarize published estimates of annual CO2 removal rates, using existing online sources.
Produce a short (2-3) page paper:
List source; date; amount of GtCO2/yr removed by natural removal methods and by technological methods.
Note: Project Director has identified quite a few sources already and will provide this list to assistant. Assistant will perform research to identify additional significant sources, then product the 2-3 page paper.

  • Locate, download and send to project director articles, papers, etc. as requested.
