The Role:

Moderna is seeking a highly skilled, talented and motivated scientist that will be focused on method development/pre-qualification/transfers, characterization of drug products to support mRNA therapeutic development. The individual will work with other scientists within the Bioassay team, Analytical Development and across the Moderna ecosystem.

  • The successful candidate must be able to work in a fast paced and highly dynamic environment and be able to contribute to bioassay development activities.

  • Applicants will have exceptional time management skills, strong attention to detail and great communication skills.

  • Contribute as part of the Bioassay development team towards the development and execution of various cell-based analytical methods to support drug product characterization, release, and stability.

  • Perform method development, pre-qualification, method transfer and associated documentation, and present work to internal stakeholders.

  • Be able to use hands-on troubleshooting for cell-free assays, cell culture, and cell based bioassay.

  • Use experimental design and data analysis to characterize drug products in cell-free and in vitro cell based assays.

  • Understand and apply scientific principles, theories, concepts, practices and standards for product development.

  • Demonstrate independent judgment in technique and method selection, protocol and study design and execution with agreement from manager; use data analysis and use of standard practices and procedures for a variety of problems to meet assigned objectives.

  • Work closely with colleagues within Moderna to collaborate on sample testing, method development and transfer of analytical technologies.

Here's What You'll Bring to the Table:

  • BS in Biology, Biochemistry, Cell biology, or closely related field.

  • Hands-on experience with mammalian cell culture and cell-based immuno or functional assays or qPCR/ddPCR is required.

  • Knowledge of theories, principles and techniques of relevant scientific areas and basic understanding of industry practices and standards.

  • Excellent communication (oral and written) and attention to detail is required.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, self-motivation, adaptable, and a positive attitude.

  • Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, keep accurate records, follow instructions, and comply with company policies.

  • Ability to follow complex method development and suggest appropriate method modifications.

  • Ability to prioritize work and experience in managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

  • Previous experience in biotech or pharmaceutical industry is highly desired.
