The primary purpose of this position is to assist the Principal Investigator in research projects involving academic procrastination and mental health in young adults. The Research Assistant will be part of a team responsible for the day to day running of the research project, including training and supervising student researchers, materials development, participant recruitment, setting and up, administering and monitoring data collection, data management and processing, and coordinating with the multi-site team. The Research Assistant will also assist the PI with preparing grant progress reports and publications, and will have opportunities for co-authorship.

Job Description:

  • Responsible for the day-to-day management of the research project, including preparing research materials and protocols, maintaining IRB protocols and compliance, contacting and scheduling participants for research, managing data (incuding basic data analysis), purchasing necessary research supplies, and coordinating the work of others in the lab. Estimated time: 50%

  • Performs research with human participants. Recruits participants, obtains informed consent, collects data.

    Interacts with participants with professionalism, warmth, and empathy. Estimated time: 25%

  • Supervises student researchers in the lab, including providing training , assigning daily activities, monitoring work, and communicating with the PI about student activities and performance. Estimated time: 10%

  • Assists with preparation of grant progress reports, conference presentations and research publications. Will have the oppprtunity to co-author conference posters and/or publications that will be submitted to peer-reviewed scholarly journals. Estimated time: 10%

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Psychology or related strongl preferred

  • At least one year of previous experience conducting research with human participants, and excellent interpersonal skills for interacting with participants preferred.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, organization and attention to detail, and problem-solving skills. Excellent computer skills and the abilty to learn new technical skills quickly.

  • Strong computer skills, including with word processing, spreadsheet, and statistical software programs.
