The Department of Psychiatry at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for an Assistant Professor position in the non-tenure research track. Expertise is required in the specific area of the application of brain-behavior based cognitive assessment, computerized psychiatric assessment and integration of behavioral measures with neuroimaging and genetics.

The candidate is expected to help bridge these domains using validated statistical tools. Applicants must have a Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. degree.

Research or scholarship responsibilities may include collaborating and developing the candidate's expertise in methodology and psychometrics while contributing to research efforts on brain-behavior and psychopathology in the section of Neurodevelopment & Psychosis, Department of Psychiatry. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with faculty and trainees in the department and collaborating programs.

The successful applicant will have a solid background in methodology and psychometrics an early track record of research applying advanced psychometric methods such as item response theory and structural equation modeling to the study of psychiatric disorders. The candidate should have demonstrated abilities to use geographic and sociological information to characterize living environments to examine the relationship between a person's surroundings/environment and other outcomes. Experience in developing and implementing novel methods and applying them in clinical research is required, including a record of publication demonstrating the candidate's ability to contribute substantially to a research program.

VIEW JOBS 5/1/2021 12:00:00 AM 2021-07-30T00:00 The Psychometrician/Data Analyst will recommend methodologies and analyses, perform effective and efficient data analysis, interpret results, and communicate findings. This position will include psychometric support, development, documentation, communication, data privacy and protection, and liaising with other teams. Psychometric support includes performing psychometric analyses to support best practices in reliability and validity for a suite of testing and learning products; identifying and implement psychometric methodologies to support custom reporting, new products, and research; providing analytical support to Senior Psychometrician; providing consulting support to internal and external customers (including research support); and participating in the inclusion of the Next Generation of NCLEX item types. Development work includes assisting in developing, designing, and documenting technical and operational procedures and psychometric guidelines; participate in personal and professional development. Documentation work includes preparing technical and/or interpretive materials; creating reports that effectively communicate and translate statistical findings; create custom reports; creating custom analyses; and responding to data, reporting, and scoring questions. Communication work includes delivering metrics, dashboards, and reports; updating technical documentation; keeping detailed notes on methodology and procedure; and presenting at national or international conferences in related areas (test publishing, psychometrics, specifics health professions). Data privacy and protection work includes supporting data privacy and protection, using data with integrity, and encouraging others to follow best practices in data privacy laws in US, Canada, and Europe. Liaison work includes working closely with associated teams (machine learning, data science, engineering, operations, customer service, faculty educators, technology support). The psychometrician/data analyst applicant must have the following competencies * Strong data entry and computer skills; comfort working in multiple programs/applications on the same project * Proficiency with MS Office suite with an emphasis on Excel to perform data analytics, pivot tables, lookups * SAS skills and experience - proficient in Base SAS and SAS EG, experience in ODS to HTML * Minimum 2 years' non-academic experience working with SAS * Experience with psychometric software such as Winsteps preferred * Previous experience in test development, nursing, or health care * Knowledge of basic Item Response Theory (IRT) and Classical Test Theory analyses and interpretation Education, Knowledge, Skills and Experiences (and any other requirements) * Doctorate in psychometrics, measurement, educational statistics, or related field with an emphasis on quantitative analysis or psychometrics * Applies sufficient knowledge of statistical procedures and methodology to work independently on most aspects of statistical analysis work * Comfortable managing, manipulating, and summarizing small and large quantities of data * Self-starter, organized, versatile, capable of performing work independently with minimal direction * Possess demonstrated excellent problem-solving skills and ability to prioritize simultaneous competing client activities * Takes personal responsibility for service and quality of work delivered * Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in both written and spoken English * History of thoroughly documenting methodologies and appropriately cataloging data, files, supporting documentation, and results * Preferred location is Houston, but applicants in St. Louis, Philadelphia, or home-based will be considered * ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Elsevier is an equal opportunity employer: qualified applicants are considered for and treated during employment without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sex, national origin, citizenship status, disability status, protected veteran status, age, marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity, genetic information, or any other characteristic protected by law.
