Job Description Summary:

The Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Pulmonary Critical Care and Sleep Medicine is recruiting a Research Assistant Professor with basic/translational science expertise in the respiratory field with a focus on the mechanism of acute lung injury and potential therapeutic means to modify or treat the host response to this injury.

Job Description:

Required Qualifications

Education: PhD or MD

Work Experience:

• At least 2 years of experience in basic/translational research in the respiratory field

• Experience in acute lung injury and inflammatory diseases.

• Laboratory skills in molecular biology in basic/translational research.

Preferred Qualifications

Work Experience:

• At least 4 years of experience in basic/translational research in the respiratory field

• Experience in teaching and mentoring faculty/students.

• Extramural grant funding.

Job Duties Outlined:

• Conduct respiratory basic/translational research and lead a laboratory as Principal/Co-Investigator with acute lung injury focus.

• Train and educate students, residents, fellows and faculty in a research setting.

• Obtain extramural/internal grant funding to support laboratory/research team.

• Mentoring and evaluating students, fellows, and faculty, as well as participating in weekly lectures and discussion groups.

• Representation of the University at national and international conferences, through scholarly contributions, such as lectures and poster presentations, and presentation of research results throughs publications in high-quality peer-reviewed journals.
