Job Title Research Assistant Professor Department Strong BRAIN Institute - 24126 Pay Grade 1 Job Category Faculty Job Summary

The Ballad Health ETSU Strong BRAIN Institute (SBI) is accepting applications for a Research Assistant Professor.

The Research Assistant Professor conducts innovative multidisciplinary research on the prevention and mitigation of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), broadly defined. The SBI is a talented and dedicated group of researchers comprised of over 30 faculty from all eight ETSU academic colleges as well as regional and national experts. The SBI was established through a generous five-year gift from Ballad Health and has been continually funded through additional state and federal grants and contracts.

The initial appointment is for one year and is renewable contingent on funding.

The position is heavily involved in a funded project in partnership with a faith-based nonprofit to address problematic substance use. This position will involve a great deal of dedicated time to measurement development, research design, statistical analysis, and publishing. There will be potential for overseeing new research and extramural funding initiatives with opportunities for the candidate to serve as Principal Investigator of his or her own projects and grant submissions.

The goals of the SBI are to 1) promote the awareness and empirical study of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), 2) promote the development and dissemination of evidence-based practices that prevent, reduce, or mitigate the negative effects of ACEs on health and health disparities, and 3) promote a trauma-informed citizenry and workforce in the Appalachian Highlands region and beyond. This individual will report to the Director of the SBI and maintain a physical SBI presence on the ETSU main campus.
