GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT:
Working with supervision from Peter Hou and Rebecca Baron, investigators of the Brigham Critical Care Research Collaborative Consortium (BCCRCC), this position provides support to clinical research studies.
The position is also responsible for making independent judgment of suitability of potential participants for clinical trials, developing and implementing patient recruitment strategies, recommending changes to protocols, and overseeing the work of junior staff.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Coordinate the implementation, both internally and externally, of clinical research studies
Responsible for screening applicants, ensuring they meet appropriate criteria, and making independent judgment as to the suitability of their participation; may be required to perform clinical tests such as phlebotomy, EKGs, etc.; initiate and maintain contact with study participants
Working in concert with BCCRC investigators and members; develop and implement patient recruitment strategies
Develop, organize, and/or maintain study databases; responsible for data validation and quality control
Develop and implement new research protocols including design, data collection systems and institutional review board applications
Recommend changes to research protocols
Perform literature searches, as appropriate
Assist PI or others with preparation for presentation and written published articles
Responsible for training and orienting new staff
Being available during clinical research work hours, 7 am to 10 pm, 7 days a week: During the work hours, research assistants cover the intensive care units in two rotary shifts, morning and evening; they sometimes have to stay late night to follow up on enrolled study patients, and are compensated for their time.

Bachelor Required- BS/BA/RN/MS/MD
New graduate with relevant course or project work

Becoming comfortable in this position requires at least 6 months, and candidates unable to commit to at least 2 years of work will not be considered.
