Position Description
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Write and submit protocols to the IRB
Performs cell culture, sample processing, organoid experiments, immunological studies
Coordinates multiple aspects of research project and carries out laboratory experiments
Collaborates with other lab members on experimental design, setting up protocols and developing new laboratory techniques
Processes, organizes, summarizes, and analyzes data, reporting experiment results using a variety of scientific, word processing, spreadsheet or statistical software applications or program platforms
May train and oversee the work of others in laboratory techniques and procedures
Assists with laboratory maintenance such as maintaining and/or purchasing equipment and supplies, documenting inventory, working with vendors and undertaking special projects as required
Contributes to unit goals by undertaking other duties as required
Assists with writing manuscripts
Assists with analyzing data
Attends conferences
Performs other duties as assigned
PLEASE NOTE: This position has a term appointment of 1 year from date of hire with the possibility of extension. This is a benefits-eligible position with a 37.5 hour work week.
Job Summary
Under minimal direction, the Research Assistant (RA) performs and/or coordinates a wide range of laboratory research procedures and conducts a variety of complex support tasks and projects determined by the field and scope of the particular research study. They will perform a variety of laboratory techniques independently, reporting results to their supervisor or other lab personnel. The RA may be required to make judgments concerning future experiments depending upon results.
