JOB SUMMARY
The Dr. Kosuke Izumi laboratory is a translational genetic research laboratory. The research targets of Izumi lab are rare pediatric genetic disorders/autism diagnoses such as CHOPS syndrome and CBX1-related syndrome, and we use patient-derived samples and mouse models of these diagnoses for molecular investigation. Using cutting-edge genomic technologies, we hope to understand the disease mechanism of genetic disorders with the ultimate goal of identifying therapeutic strategies ameliorating clinical symptoms of these diagnoses.
The Izumi lab is looking for a Research Assistant II. The daily routine for this position will include cell/tissue culture (mainly induced pluripotent stem cells), mouse husbandary/colony maintenance, basic molecular biology experiments (PCR, DNA extraction, RNA extraction, immunoblotting, qPCR, droplet digital PCR, DNA/RNA fluorescent in situ hybridization(FISH), CRISPR-Cas9 genome editing, immunohistochemistry staining etcs).
The ideal candidate will have more than 3 years of basic molecular biology experiment experience, induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) cultures/neuronal differentiation experience and past experience of handing research animals (mouse). This technician is also expected to be involved in lab management work such as sample coordination and interactions with an institutional review board.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
Required
Master's Degree with major coursework in field of assignment and 1 year of experience or
Bachelor's Degree with major coursework in field of assignment with 5 years of experience or
2 years of college or specialized training in histology, serology, medical technology, etc. or
High School graduate including courses in basic sciences with 7 years of experience
1 year of experience as Research Assistant I or equivalent with Master's. or
5 years of experience, including one (1) year as Research Assistant I or equivalent with two years of college. or
7 years of experience, including one (1) year as Research Assistant I or equivalent with High School Diploma.
