SBP is a preeminent, independent biomedical research institute dedicated to understanding human biology and disease, and advancing scientific discoveries to profoundly impact human health. For over 40 years, our research has produced breakthroughs in cancer, neuroscience, immunology and children's diseases, and is anchored by our NCI-designated cancer center and advanced drug discovery capabilities.
A full-time Research Assistant I position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Anindya Bagchi. Dr. Bagchi's lab studies the genetic mutations that drive cancer. A geneticist by training, Dr. Bagchi is passionate about finding the hidden drivers of cancer. As a research community, we have made tremendous progress in the last few decades in understanding the nature of the beast, but now is the time to translate those knowledge to actionable interventions. Dr. Bagchi's lab is focused on how to illuminate the genetic mutations which act as life line to many cancers. This would expose their Achilles heel that we can exploit in near future to develop new forms of treatment. They have identified and characterized several key mutations that were shown as proof of concept to target in as much as 30% of all cancers. The focus of the lab is now to carry out experiments that will allow them to develop this work beyond the proof of concept, ideally to successful clinical trials.
The Research Assistant will be working in the laboratory and assisting with lab projects, as assigned. The Research Assistant will be learning new technologies, as well as applying existing knowledge to procedures and bench-work.
