Job Posting Description
The Research Assistant will be responsible for:
Performing a variety of routine and specialized laboratory experimental specimen preparations and experimental procedures for the purpose of research, while under immediate supervision.
Assisting in the use of specialized laboratory equipment and analysis of data generated by this equipment.
Manage a colony of genetically engineered mice.
Developing protocols and performing experiments to model cardiac diseases with induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) and genetically engineered mouse models.
Designing, producing and testing gene therapy vectors to treat inherited heart disease.
Maintaining excellent records of results and methodologies as well assisting in compiling and analyzing data.
In order to qualify, you must have:
The knowledge of theories, principles, and concepts acquired through completion of a Bachelor's degree in biology, animal science, toxicology, pharmacology or a related field. A Master's degree is desired but not required.
Prior lab experience highly desired
Experience with mammalian cell culture is required.
Experience with mouse breeding and experiments is highly desired.
Intermediate laboratory skills including molecular biology, microscopy, and use of basic analytical equipment are required.
Excellent inter-personal skills and the desire to learn new skills are a must.
