Working under general supervision of a manager or project leader and following established policies and procedures,

provides assistance for research studies. May be responsible for the following activities: collecting and organizing study data; scheduling appointments; tracking equipment use, calibration, location; ordering supplies and equipment; transferring samples/specimen; maintaining and updating data generated by the study; maintaining regulatory documentation; tracking expenditures.

  • DATA COLLECTION ACTIVITIES:

  • Collects and codes data

  • Transfers collected data to code sheets

  • Prepares data for keypunching / computer input

  • Documents system changes, informing supervisor of conflicts between coding methods and protocol

  • Prepares written reports on data, as appropriate

  • Works with patients, doing consents, surveys, patient education

  • Creating and maintaining the website/blog on database for the study

  • Helps prepare and run the nutrition and cooking sessions

  • Planning curriculum

  • Acquiring needed equipment and food items for the course

  • Helping to teach the course

  • Other

  • Networking with outside physicians, organizations and programs that work in the same field. (BCH, greater Boston food pantry, Cooking Matters, no kid hungry) to see what is out there and potentially involve community food organizations with our efforts.


  • Literature search on cooking/health/nutrition, obstetric recommendations of major organizations, find patient educational materials available on the topic. Help create our own handouts and online information.

  • Help create and maintain blog for our program, online website, videos/utubes of our chef doing demonstrations.

  • Reach out to potential donors for food donations: Whole foods, trader joes, stop and shop, shaws, Get Fresh, Blue Apron, Hannafords, local CSI

  • Reach out to potential donors for cooking equipment donations

Walgreens, BB&B, Target.

  • Research where out enrolled pts live, map out supermarkets, CSI, food coops, farmers markets in their neighborhoods to understand their challenges

  • Work to help chef and nutritionist make handouts for patientsnutrition info, recipes, pregnancy info per visit.

  • Help go shopping for food and gather cooking equipment

  • Attend the cooking and nutrition classes

  • Supervise high school student working on project

Recruiting responsibilities:

Recruit, consent, and contact prospective patient participants

Enter and maintain Redcap database

Respond to emails, contacts from patients recruited by Rally

Help with editing and submitting IRB updates.

Help create handouts and online information.

Web & promotion:

Help create and maintain blog for our program, Instagram, online website

Write daily posts for Facebook and Instagram

Edit photos and videos and create graphics for social media

Schedule posts/post Instagram stories in real time

Take photos/videos with chef

Monitor insights and update social media strategy to optimize posts

Interact with other accounts/ research other groups in the Boston area doing similar work with social media accounts for collaborations/promotions

Develop and update website with recipes, cooking tips, nutrition information, etc. weekly if possible

Work with BWH Communications to develop promotions, ads, etc.

For classes:

Work to help chef and nutritionist make handouts for patientsnutrition info, recipes, pregnancy info for each class

For each class- research nutrition facts for each new recipe

Update, print and organize recipe and educational handouts for classes

Organize parking vouchers and tpasses for participants

Help go shopping for food and gather cooking equipment

Help chef prep food for classes and transport food to the classes

Administer pre/post surveys for participants and enter data in database from surveys

Import basic EPIC data to database

Working Conditions:

WOffice setting at 850 Boylston Fish Center, Brigham Main hospital and OBGYN clinics, in the NICU

And manage online and social media presence of the study. Anticipate 10-15 hrs/wk, 5 hrs/wk remote work.

Financial Responsibilities:

Prepares invoices and submits payment requests on a weekly or monthly basis. Monitors project and Core budgets and updates internal financial records on a monthly basis.

May interface with vendors, professional staff, investigators, or others in the event of a payment problem.

QUALIFICATIONS:

BS or BA

New graduate with relevant course or project work
