Research Assistant, Community Health Worker: (Part-time & Full-time available)
Required Skills & Qualifications: - GED or high school Diploma. Life or Health Sciences degree preferred. Community Health Worker Education preferred but not required with previous experience.
Prior experience in local communities with health care providers, coalition building, community organizers, population health, or similar fields
Any prior experience with leading focus groups, qualitative interviewing, or small group discussions
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook).
In-depth knowledge of local public health related community resources/community-based organizations (CBOs)
Preferred fluent language skills in one or more of the languages other than English within the communities of Compton and/or Gardena (Spanish, Korean, Japanese, Vietnamese, etc.)
Familiarity with leading focus groups, qualitative interviewing, or small group discussions
Experience in planning and executing meetings and small community events with more than one partner
Experience with social media, community outreach, and other promotional activities
Basic knowledge/skills in data entry
Highly organized; capable of prioritizing and completing tasks within provided timelines
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Familiarity with the Gardena and Compton communities and understanding of cultural norms. Strong preference for applicants who are currently from, work in, or have previously lived or worked in either community.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Ability to work well under pressure and meet multiple and sometimes conflicting deadlines
Ability to interact in an appropriate and professional manner
Demonstrated cooperative behavior and positive problem solving and conflict resolution skills
Available to work weekdays, weekends, and evening times based on times of focus groups, community events, and meetings with project coordinator, investigators, and other team members
Description of Duties :
Serve as primary facilitator to engage with community members from Gardena and Compton to conduct focus groups and qualitative interviews to understand their perspectives, attitudes, and knowledge gaps related to bystander CPR and AED use
Participate in community outreach events, social media campaigns, and other promotional activities to raise awareness about the project
Maintain clear and accurate records, inventories, and data records for focus groups and interviews
Track project timelines and deliverables; contribute to completion of deliverables.
Assist with research tasks, to include data collection and organization of data, enrollment of participants in research
Work closely with project coordinator and other team members to achieve project objectives and goals. Track project timelines and deliverables; contribution to completion of deliverables.
CHW certification or acquired within 6 months
Basic Life Support certification or training within 6 months
Self-directed with excellent organizational skills
Have a reliable vehicle or a plan for reliable transportation within the communities of Gardena and Compton
Excellent communication skills
Monitor progress towards achieve project goals
Salary Range: $45,000-$55,000
