The Department of Astronomy, within the College of Arts and Sciences, seeks a Research Assistant 2, Physical to join our team. The College of Arts and Sciences is the largest college and the academic heart of the university.

Research Assistant will work with Professors K. Stanek and C.

Kochanek on the All-Sky Automated Survey for Supernovae (ASAS-SN). Duties include: daily quality control of data obtained by 20 ASAS-SN telescopes; verification of supernova and other transient candidates; release of confirmed ASAS-SN discoveries to the public; response to public queries concerning ASAS-SN Sky Patrol data; coordination of queue observing schedule on the MDM 2.4-m telescope. Participate in follow-up observations and data reduction of ASAS-SN targets.

Bachelor's degree required by time of hire; 1-3 years of research experience in astrophysics; minimum of one year of programming experience by start of employment.

The Research Assistant 1 assists in the general coordination and conduct of research in the Clinical Neuroscience Laboratory, including the administration of tests and/or questionnaires and the compilation of results; facilitates recruitment efforts between the laboratory and community partners; conducts neuropsychological assessment sessions with clinical populations; assists with data reduction and analyses, specifically analyses of neuroimaging data using openly-available software like FSL, AFNI, or SPM and programming experience in either UNIX or MATLAB; position available for one year with the possibility of extension for additional years based on satisfactory performance and availability of funds.
