Title: Research, Assessment and Special Initiatives Data Technician

Job Summary:

The Research, Assessment and Special Initiatives (RASI) Data Technician is responsible for developing data models, dashboards, and reports to support the College and RASI efforts. The RASI Data Technician queries databases and disseminates data to the college to identify trends and create actionable insights that lead to improved date informed efficiency and effectiveness. This position works extensively with college data, as it exists in data tables, SPSS files, and enterprise resource planning, and collects and gathers external data that can be integrated to create a data story of the college. The RASI Data Technician may also provide predictive modeling expertise in areas of strategic information.

Job Duties:

Develop reports and dashboards to enable self-service access to key indicators required to monitor progress against College goals on key performance indicators including student recruitment, student enrollment, student success, persistence and retention, and general college trends. Help create and maintain college-wide data fact book. Provide graphic and numerical display of information for presentation to a variety of audiences. Provide in-depth analysis and research new insights and strategies that can improve institutional data analytical dashboards and reports. Collect and analyze data and input from multiple external and internal sources Work cross-functionally with stakeholders to determine and meet their reporting and analytics needs. Perform assignments including data retrieval/collection, tracking, analysis and interpretation, and reporting. Assist the department with various constituencies such as administration, faculty, staff, students, alumni, and the Tennessee Board of Regents with providing information as needed. Assist with maintaining up-to-date instruments, software, and integrity measures necessary to collect, manage, and report college data. Assist with coordinating and producing data for internal research, assessment, and evaluation projects. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

An Associate degree and 1 year of related experience, or high school diploma or equivalent and 3 years of related experience.

Experience in computer programming.

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of Ellucian Banner and/or PowerBI and other computer languages.

Experience working in a higher education setting.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of computer applications and languages such as SPSS and/or SAS, Microsoft Office (Access, Excel and Word) used for the collection, analysis and presentation of research findings.

Familiarity with Banner, HTML, JAVA, Visual Basic, or PowerBI is a plus.

Experience in SQL programming.

Possess analytical skills and statistical ability to translate raw data from disparate sources into information and knowledge utilizing business intelligence reporting tools.

Strong understanding of database concept.

Must possess excellent problem resolution, organizational, interpersonal communication skills and project management skills.

Must be a willing advocate of the mission of the college.

Pay Rate: $42,031 - $50,437 annual salary depending on experience
