  • This position at Hickory, NC Chase Corporation, will focus on the research and development of Adhesive, Sealant and Coating formulations, as well as technical support as directed.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities (Additional Responsibilities As Assigned)

  • Work collaboratively with internal team colleagues to create and commercialize new products as identified by management

  • Work in collaboration with Operations for successful scale-up of R & D products in production.

  • Responsible for the creation of project plans and timelines for assigned projects, providing timely updates and other reports as directed, and conducting presentations (internal and external) as needed.

  • Provide technical support to Marketing, Sales, Engineering, Manufacturing, and other Product Development staff as needed.

  • Provide technical knowledge and leadership in Adhesives, Sealant and Coatings related raw materials available to Chase, related processes, test methodologies and other analyses, as well as technical trends in the related market.

  • Conduct literature and patent reviews and make internal summaries and presentations on relevant developments in the field.

  • Familiar with Stage gate process and Design control procedure knowledge and document maintenance

  • Comply with the Chase Design Control Procedure requirements

  • Comply with all Chase Safety requirements.

  • Work with EHS as needed to support regulatory compliance.

  • Travel up to 10%.

Internal

  • Expected to be comfortable making presentations to research and development staff and other departments.

  • Interact within a small research and development team, but able to communicate effectively with all operating divisions through the United States and Europe.

External

  • Interaction with customers and material suppliers for formulary and product development material characterization, application/technology exchanges will be required as a part of the role.

Education

MS in Chemistry/Materials Science/Chemical Engineering/ Polymer Science with 6+ years of experience

or

PhD in Chemistry/Materials Science/Chemical Engineering/ Polymer Science with 3+ years of experience

Knowledge And Experience

  • Good understanding of different chemistries, for example, silicone, epoxy, urethane, UV curing, etc., and structure-property relationship.

  • Familiar with analytical analysis techniques, such as FT-IR, DSC, TGA, GC-MS, GPC and different kinds of physical properties testing.

  • Experience with statistical analysis tools as needed, such as DOE for preselecting candidates based on DOE test results.

  • Self-motivated and able to adapt to a fast-paced, quickly changing priorities as per customer/commercial/operations need, rapid response environment.

  • Work collaboratively with inter departments and R&D colleagues to achieve successful commercialization of projects within the timelines required.

  • Highly organized with excellent analytical and interpersonal skills.

  • Demonstrate teamwork and adaptability to add and share projects as needed.

  • Experience with silicone based materials is a plus.
