Position Summary
The research analyst will be responsible for processing and assaying blood samples collected from projects within the Biobehavioral Mechanisms Explaining Disparities (BMED) Lab. The research analyst will assist project coordinators with recruitment and participant visits when necessary. The research analyst will sometimes handle sensitive and confidential information, which must be secured and s/he must be able to ensure private information of study participants remains confidential.
Salary Range: $42,500 - $50,000 annually
This position is funded by a grant, soft and/or restricted funds. Continued employment is contingent on the renewal of funding.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree with major coursework in one of the major sciences.
One or more (1+) years of experience in research work
Skills
Ability to learn quickly
Detailed oriented and good verbal and written communication skills
Ability to multitask, prioritize, meet deadlines, and analytical organization skills
good knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
Preferences
Wet laboratory experience
Experience working in an institution of higher education
Experience working with Oracle ERP system
Essential Functions
Prepares plasma and serum samples from human blood samples
Performs in vitro leukocyte cultures
Performs phenotyping of leukocyte subpopulations by FACS technology
Isolation of peripheral blood leukocytes
Responsible for intake and registration of samples
Constructs, assembles, and operates laboratory apparatus and equipment.
Performs experiments (such as Elisa) and bioenergetic profiles of leukocytes using Seahorse Technology
Records and evaluates data obtained in accordance with methods requested.
Works with the lab's data team to ensure standardized organization of data.
Assists with recruitment and running participant visits.
