We are searching for candidates that meet the required qualifications and experience and are able to perform the essential duties and responsibilities.

Job Summary:

Assist in conducting research, analyzing various types of data and producing various types of reports to support effective decision making and policy formation within the district. Respond to ad-hoc and routine data requests from internal and external constituents, as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop, design and administer online surveys, including generation of electronic contact lists, uploading surveys to server, monitoring returns, downloading, importing and cleaning data and generating various types of reports.

  • Coordinate and administer large-scale online surveys in collaboration with other departments/institutions. Monitor responses, follow-up and generate reports.

  • Collect data for external agencies/organizations, interact with various college entities to collect and report benchmarking data to support effective decision making throughout the district.

  • Provide data analysis services and support to the Collin administrators, faculty, staff and other members of the college community as needed.

  • Conduct and summarize literature reviews and web searches to support research projects undertaken by the Institutional Research Office (IRO) and for effective decision making throughout the district.

  • Extract and analyze data using various software packages including, but not limited to, Microsoft Excel, SPSS, Oracle SQL Developer, Argos, Collin College Student Information System (Banner) and the Collin College Data Warehouse (Zogotech), Workday, R and other tools as needed.

  • Use Visualization software including, but not limited to Tableau, Power BI or others to produce computer generated visualizations displaying demographic or other data related to student and service area populations.

  • Attend local and state conferences, webinars and workshops to maintain up-to-date knowledge of institutional research methods and issues. Travel to various locations; overnight stays may be required.

  • Stay abreast of changes in policies and procedures. Maintain knowledge of current trends, events and emerging issues. Identify information, programs, and resources useful to IRO and the Institution.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of computer hardware and software, and the ability to quickly learn new hardware and software concepts and applications

  • Knowledge of questionnaire design, sampling, planning and developing paper and online surveys

  • Knowledge of statistics and the ability to understand and analyze quantitative and qualitative data

  • Knowledge of technical writing skills; ability to produce professional reports that effectively communicate ideas using appropriate words, correct grammar, punctuation, spelling and effective integration of quantitative and visual information using the APA style guide for reports and references

  • Strong written, oral and interpersonal skills

  • Effective time management skills, and ability to meet deadlines

  • Ability to work cooperatively with other employees and actively participate as team member in terms of setting goals, making decision, working on projects and supporting of the department and the district

  • Ability to read, comprehend, and succinctly summarize complex research literature, identify relevant facts, and derive logical conclusions

  • Ability to work effectively without undue instruction and minimal supervision

  • Ability to ensure accuracy of statistical and written information

  • Ability to shift quickly between several tasks without loss of continuity

Physical Demands, Working Conditions and Physical Effort

Sedentary Work - Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, a negligible amount of force frequently, and/or constantly having to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met. Positions in this class typically require talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, walking and repetitive motions. Relatively free from unpleasant environmental conditions or hazards. Office environment. Little physical effort required.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited institution with a minimum of three (3) credit hours of statistics required. Three (3) credit hours in research or quantitative methods is desirable. Master's degree from an accredited institution, desired.

One (1) year of related experience required.

Note: Experience with the computer tools used by the institutional Research Office is very desirable. This position requires the use of IBM compatible computers in a Windows environment. Software tools include: SPSS, Argos, Banner, SQL Developer, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Access, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SQL, Snap Surveys, Qualtrics, FTP software, Adobe Acrobat, Visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI and others, Web browsers and search engines. Experience working with SPSS and Banner is a plus.

Equivalency Language

May substitute one (1) year of graduate related coursework for related experience required.
