The Research Analyst, Economics will provide statistical, research, analytical
and graphical support to the Senior Director, Economic Research and Senior
Director, Economic Indicators and Surveys as required. He or she may receive
day-to-day work assignments from other members of the Economics Program research
staff and the Chief Economist.
The incumbent may supervise the work
assignments of research support personnel.

Reports to the Senior Director, Economic Research

Supports the acquisition, organization and maintenance of databases relating
to the development and release of The Conference Board Leading Economic Index
for the U.S. and other indicators as assigned. Monitors quality of data used in
program as well as efficient use. Develops a familiarity with government data,
contacts, understanding of surveys and data limitations.
Supports monthly production and release of The Conference Board Leading
Economic Index for the U.S., China and India, including current analysis and
commentary, in a timely manner (meeting all deadlines etc.).
Responsible for the monthly, production and release of The Conference Board
Leading Economic Indexes for the China and India as assigned including a
general understanding of the macro environment in these economies.
Supports the
monthly production and release of The Conference Board Leading Economic Index
for the U.S.
Provides back-up support in all production phases of global indicators press
releases, including support for, on a rotational basis, the monthly production
and releases of The Conference Board Leading Economic Index for Australia,
Brazil, Euro Area, France, Germany, Global, Japan, Korea, Mexico, Spain, U.K. -
as assigned.
Supports any developmental and production work related to Leading Economic
Indexes for GULF region countries in collaboration with The Conference Board
Gulf Center research team, as needed.
Assists in the production of other monthly economic reports and provides
analytical and graphical support to research staff, including support for the US
and Global forecasts and related deliverables, including 1) Economy Watch report
PDF, webcast slides and related reports, 2) Updating and working with summary
forecast tables, 3) Global Outlook annual and quarterly updates by better
integrating the Global LEI model
Leads the quarterly development and publication of the US Consumer
Expenditures Outlook report including PCE forecasts for the U.S. Economics,
Strategy and Finance Center (ESF) and Consumer Dynamics Institute; communicate
relevant insights from the latest data to team members and TCB members through
the report
Carries out segments of approved research projects under the direction of
the Director or assigned researcher. Presents research to team members and
economics department.
Performs statistical and logical analysis of research data using one or more
advanced statistical packages, such as Eviews, R, SAS, Gauss, and/or SPSS.
Tabulates data and performs basic statistical and logical analyses of
research results.
Responsible for answering general website and telephone inquiries regarding
the Business Cycle Indicators and provides information service to BCI
subscribers and other Associates, the press and general public either as a
result of direct contact or as requested by supervisor.
Maintains knowledge of the principal sources of information pertaining to
developments in his/her research areas.
Performs background studies including
literature searches and reviews.
Other duties as assigned.
Within the broad range of activities summarized above, the Research Analyst,
Economics is responsible the timely completion of work assigned in a fully
professional manner and for maintaining and further developing his/her knowledge
and expertise in the areas designated by the Director, Economic Research. This
position requires that incumbent remains vigilant in advancing the Board's
strong reputation for quality product. The position also requires maintaining
a smooth working relationship within the Economics Research program and
professionalism in all contacts within The Conference Board and with Associates,
clients, government agencies, media and other personnel

Economics preferred with an emphasis on macroeconomics, statistics,
mathematics, and econometrics. B.A.
Economics (as well as bachelors or
Masters in Statistics, Math) considered if accompanied by 2-3 years of strong,
substantive, relevant working experience in economics.
Knowledge of Word, Excel,
and PowerPoint is required Ability to master and use advanced statistical
packages (for example, Eviews, R, Access, Visual Basic, STATA and SPSS etc.) is
essential. Programming and/or database management experience preferred.
Knowledge of database management software (such as Access, SQL) is a plus.
Candidate should be detail-oriented; a team and independent worker who has the
ability to effectively multi-task and meets deadlines. Strong communication
(written and verbal) and presentation skills are required.

Incumbent should have excellent time-series and econometric skills, familiarity
with macroeconomic data, and solid credentials in macroeconomic analysis as well
as strong analytical and quantitative skills, the ability to organize and
interpret data, and strong attention to details.
Incumbent must also be able
to work well in a team environment, work well under pressure, and meet
deadlines. This requires a solid background in economic theory and research,
econometrics/statistics, and strong writing, presentation, and communication
