The Research Administrative Assistant (Assistant) will perform clerical and other tasks to help maintain an efficient administrative workflow. The position will involve participation in an ongoing research program investigating biomarker discovery in prostate and bladder cancer. The Assistant will be responsible for enrolling and registering patients on IRB approved the prospective study, collecting samples for research analysis from patients, and various administrative functions. The Assistant is also responsible for cataloging clinical outcomes in patients enrolled in this study and will work directly under the Director of Research and the principal investigator on various studies, as well as multiple research coordinators.


  • Answers the Research department's main phone line and directing calls to the appropriate staff.

  • Interviews potential participants and maintain clinic schedules

  • Prints protocol mailings and safety reports and distribute the information to the Clinical Research Supervisor in a timely manner.

  • Creates protocol charts for CRA's and assists in entering and maintaining information in the Clinical Trials Management System.

  • Supports clinical research studies by collaborating with research participants at Urology San Antonio and interacts with patients and their families.

  • Assists with coordination and communications of research projects per the funding agency's award statement. This process includes the recruitment of participants and the implementation of all aspects of study protocols.

  • Assists with telephone screenings and schedule research subjects for evaluations to include maintaining the schedule for research appointments.

  • Helps the Research Team with subject recruitment activities (mailings, posting fliers, contacting outside agencies, etc.)

  • Obtains and track medical records for research subjects.

  • Provides supports with writing procedure sheets for research protocols along with developing datasheets and other research-related forms.

  • Assists with the acquisition and maintenance of all data collected for research studies.

  • Takes part in developing databases and tracking data.

  • Participates in the training of new staff, students, and volunteers on all aspects of the research protocols.

  • Clinical research certification a plus but not required

  • Clerical and computer experience preferred, experience in medical setting a plus.

  • Possess strong skills for multitasking, meeting competing deadlines, prioritizing, and supporting PIs for multiple projects

  • Keen attention to details

VIEW JOBS 10/28/2020 12:00:00 AM 2021-01-26T00:00 Job Summary We are seeking a Clinical Research Assistant / Fibroscan Tech to join our site in San Antonio, TX! #LI-JD1 Role Responsibility * Promote the company and build positive relations with patients to ensure participation and retention. * Reviews inclusion/exclusion criteria with patients to ensure eligibility to participate in study. * Supports and witnesses the consenting process for participants. * Prepares study-specific documents for pre-study screening. * Assists with the maintenance of a screening/enrollment log and required documentation such as screening failures and phone communications to patients and/or clients. * Ensures the safety of patients by monitoring and assessing AEs, if any, and communicating potentially serious findings to physician. * May perform basic clinical/lab duties or procedures like fibroscans, administration of drugs, blood draws, ECGs, vital signs, centrifuge operation, storing and/or shipping specimen, etc. * Attends initiation meetings when necessary to obtain study process clarification. * Contributes to the overall research experience of each patient to assure a positive experience. * Performs other study-related duties as qualified by documented training. * Assists with patient follow-up visits by preparing the files, ensuring all data, forms and results are attached in the files. * May assist in the pharmacy and unpacking IP and taking stock. * May assist with patient interviews to get more information. * May be responsible for the overall site appearance, consumables and disposals (i.e., tidiness of patient areas, availability of consumables in the bathrooms as well as biomedical disposal arrangements). * Fulfills all duties according to protocol, SOP/COP, ICH GCP and local regulations and reports any non-compliance. Ideal Candidate * High / Secondary school diploma or equivalent and relevant formal academic / vocational qualification * Previous experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable to at least 2 years).
