PURPOSE STATEMENT

The Assessment Specialist/Curriculum Support TOSA will oversee district wide assessments, the integration of assessment and data with teaching and learning, and support professional collaboration and coaching cycles focused on data collection and analysis, inclusionary practices, Multilingual Learner strategies, and differentiated instruction to elevate student achievement.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Coordinate and manage district wide assessments and interpretation of data to inform instruction.

  • Work collaboratively with program coordinators and building assessment specialists to effectively plan and administer assessments.

  • Provide technical assistance with State and Federal testing; communicate results and improvement efforts to district and community constituents.

  • Work with district program staff and principals in compiling, analyzing and utilizing assessment data.

  • Develop assessment reports and communicate them in a timely fashion to Principals, Executive Director of Teaching and Learning, Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent and Board of Directors.

  • Collaborate with teachers in PLTs and classrooms to model, co-teach, and co-lesson plan in response to assessment data.

  • Promote and share innovative research-based application of technology as a tool to enhance teaching and learning in response to assessment data.

  • Support the management of the elementary reporting system, OASIS, and other online data platforms.

  • Assist the Teaching and Learning team, specifically the Curriculum Coordinator, with data related to identified Promise Standards, assessment data, and implementation of high leverage inclusionary practices related to core curriculum materials.

  • Perform other duties to support the Teaching and Learning department programs to continue to increase student learning.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

Reports to the Executive Director of Teaching and Learning

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

  • Valid Washington State Teaching Certificate

  • Demonstrated leadership in Education

  • Experience with assessments

  • District level experience preferred

  • Knowledge/awareness of own cultural identity and how this influences behavior, and desire to learn about the cultural identity of others.

  • Ability to establish and nurture an environment that promotes cultural competence and equitable treatment of staff, students, and patrons of the district.

  • Advocate for equity, inclusion and professional practices that ensure all students achieve at high levels.

  • Knowledge of SEL practices and approaches.

  • Knowledge of effective teaching strategies and demonstrated experience in effective instruction.

  • Broad based knowledge of district's curriculum and assessment program.

  • Strong knowledge and skills in Excel, Skyward, and OASIS.

  • Human relations skills and organizational ability necessary to independently prioritize and appropriately manage multiple time-sensitive tasks.

  • Ability to participate collaboratively in teams.

  • Ability to continue participation in staff development to maintain professional skills.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.

  • Leadership qualities including the ability to be innovative and the ability to maintain positive and trusting relationships.

  • Familiarity with Response Intervention and data driven decisions.

  • Ability to effectively integrate technology resources as they relate to assessment requirements.

Licenses/Special Requirements

  • Must maintain all licenses and certifications as a condition of continued employment.

  • Completed Employment Application/Background Check.

  • Must complete Walla Walla Public Schools Risk Management and Bloodborne Pathogens Training upon hire.

  • Ability to work flexible schedules.

Walla Walla Public Schools Teachers Salary Schedule, Retirement, SEEB Benefits, Paid Sick Leave
