Job duties:

  • The Eligibility Specialist II performs general work duties related to the administration of the SNAP and TANF programs in the Economic Services Division in the Lee County office to help restore or improve customer financial stability.

  • Develops in conjunction with the client, a Family Plan detailing the vocational objectives for the adult members of the family unit, barriers to attaining the referenced vocational objectives, services required to address each barrier and entities to provide services within specific time frames. Conducts client assessments to include life skills attainment, life skills assessment and career exploration; assist clients in the development of Family Plans and assist clients in the identification and elimination of barriers to employment. Provides counseling, referrals and advice to support the academic, personal and social development of clients in assigned caseload.

  • Works with TANF and ABAWD clients, Job Developer and E&T Coordinator to ensure development of and placement in work activities that meet the clients' needs. Ensures that participation goals are met and properly documented for assigned caseload.

  • Monitors the progress of clients and family members throughout the quest for self-reliance and ensure that goals as set forth in the Family Plan are being met. Meets with each assigned client as needed to provide support and ensure compliance with their goals. Provides case management services to assist clients in resolving issues that impact employability.

  • Process system generated alerts (SNAP, TANF, ESAP, and SCCAP) in the county of residence.

  • Maintains case records and files in agency designated computer system for documentation and auditing purposes as required by agency policy in a confidential, timely and accurate manner. Documents client work participation activities in agency designated system. Enters timely documentation in SCOSA of events/activities that may affect clients continued eligibility for benefits.

  • Identifies and documents over payments and makes at least 3 possible claims referrals to the Benefit Integrity Unit; prepares supporting documents for Fair Hearings. Participates in training and supervisory meetings or staff meetings as required.

  • Prepares reports as requested by the supervisor or otherwise required and observe and enforce program policies and practices. Refers clients to other services, including, but not limited to childcare, job placement, educational facilities, and any necessary intervention services.

  • Participates in training and supervisory meetings or staffings as required.

  • Interprets social services programs to clients, general public and to the community as needed.

  • Performs Red Cross shelter duty or other emergency shelter duty/services as directed.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

Agency Requirements:

A High School Diploma and relevant program experience in clerical, administration, Social Work, correctional, administration, or general business administration.

A Bachelor's Degree may be substituted for the required program experience.
