Summary:
The Boulder Daily Camera is seeking an experienced Reporter to cover city government in Boulder, Colorado. This role involves reporting on City Council meetings, government activities, and community issues.
Must live in the Boulder County area or be willing to relocate (No relocation assistance offered.)
What you will do:
Cover Boulder City Council meetings and report on city government activities
Translate complex government jargon into clear, concise language for the public
Write engaging news articles on topics of interest to the community
Craft compelling headlines utilizing SEO principles
Develop a strong social media presence as a trusted source for Boulder city government news
Generate story ideas and contribute to the Daily Camera and its sister publications
Contribute coverage in areas outside of your assigned beat.
What you will bring:
Degree in journalism, communication, or equivalent experience; relevant experience in news reporting and writing, using social media, creating enterprising content
A minimum of three years of experience as a city government reporter
Master of AP style with strong storytelling abilities capable of cultivating an online audience
Ability to work under deadline pressure and manage multiple tasks efficiently
Understanding of various media platforms, including web, mobile, and print
Strong teamwork and collaboration skills
Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and odd hours as needed
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required
Benefits and Compensation:
The hourly wage is $20.00.
