Repair Technician

Job Description

The repair technician is responsible for performing a wide variety of duties related to the servicing of electronic security, safety, and communications equipment such as; reading manuals, diagnosing and repairing product down to the component level, performing routine servicing and inspections, installing electronic upgrades, and assisting with training of Service Repair Operators.

Responsibilities

• Plan and schedule repairs of faulty and damaged returned electronic equipment

• Set-up, repair, and maintenance of electronic systems and equipment

• Analysis on electronic and electromechanical assemblies to include Failed part identification.

• Replacement of defective components to bring product into specification.

• Diagnose problems, troubleshoot, and come up with solution to repair security and audio equipment

• Run performance analyses on electronic devices and report on results

• Diagnose and solve computer problems such as registry errors, OS problems and hardware failures

• Data entry and record keeping of repair activities and part usage

• Surface mount soldering and electronic component replacement

• Schematic reading and circuit analysis using modern test equipment (multimeter, oscilloscope, etc.)

• Knowledge of audio and video equipment basics and operation

• Provide input to assist in developing and improving diagnostic and test methods

• Provide feedback on product defects to management

• Clean and prepare units for return to customer

Qualifications

• Associate Degree in Mechatronics or Electronics Engineering Technology

• Minimum of three years experience in an electronics manufacturing and/or repair environment

• Experience with continuous improvement tools

• Proficient with a Windows operating system

• Proficient with fixing software and hardware problems

• Strong mechanical ability

• Ability to function productively in a team environment

• Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office Suite Products and MRP systems such as, SAP or Oracle

• Demonstrated experience diagnosing and repairing to the component level

• Ability to learn and diagnose multiple product types
