JOB DESCRIPTION:

Responsible for the repair and testing of Flow Cells and optical assemblies used on BDB Flow Cytometry products.

Ensures conformance to current procedures and standards of accuracy, precision and reliability.

Completes tasks in conjunction with standard manufacturing procedures. Works on assignments requiring considerable judgment and initiative. Understands implications of work and makes recommendations for solutions and improvements. Determines methods and procedures on new assignments, and may provide guidance to other personnel.

Troubleshoots, repairs, upgrades and tests a wide variety of BDB optical products; primarily Flow Cells. Ensures accuracy of all tasks performed, complying with existing material control procedures.

Provides guidance and training to other lower level repair technicians in troubleshooting and repair techniques. Works closely with engineering to resolve unusual problems and/or make changes to established procedures as necessary. Repairs instrumentation and upgrades to current revision level.

May plan daily work schedules of repair center technicians to meet forecasted stocking requirements. May provide technical support and troubleshooting support to Field Service Engineers. Keeps abreast of the basic requirements for compliance in own area of work and complies with those requirements.

Participates as required in training on regulatory issues affecting own area of work. Brings regulatory compliance questions/issues to the attention of management. Follows BD Environmental, Health and Safety (EH&S) policies and procedures.

Takes responsibility for safety in immediate work area. Participates in EH&S programs. Notifies supervisor of all observed hazardous conditions or unsafe work practices.

May provide recommendations on maintaining the safety of the work environment. Performs other related duties and assignments as required.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

Thorough operational knowledge of all BDB Flow Cytometry systems; i.e., FACSAria, FACSCanto, and LSR. Demonstrated ability to analyze, evaluate, diagnose, repair and test flow cells and other optical related assemblies used on BDB products.

Effective interpersonal skills. Demonstrated team work capability. Effective written and oral communication skills. Demonstrated ability to follow established policies and procedures.

EXPERIENCE:

Typically requires six years of experience in the test and repair of instrumentation and control systems, or an equivalent combination of related technical education and experience. SAP experience is a plus

VIEW JOBS 4/13/2019 12:00:00 AM 2019-07-12T00:00 Scope: Responsible for waste treatment operations, shipping hazardous wastes, chemical maintenance of manufacturing processes, and chemical preventative maintenance on equipment. Duties and Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be a hands-on, success driven individual with: * Responsible for shipping and handling of hazardous wastes; and receiving chemical shipments, handling and storage. * Maintains standards of quality effluent as prescribed by SJ/SC WPCP. * Operates a wastewater pretreatment system and batch treatment system, using metal precipitation and water clarification technologies. * Controls pH, heavy metal concentration, and other specified parameters as required by SJ/SC WPCP and SJ Environmental Enforcement Division Waste Water Discharge Permit. * Properly labels all chemicals, including wastes, as required by DOT, OSHA and US EPA. * Provides service to production areas in the form of chemical additions, chemical bath changes, filter changes, preventative maintenance, and housekeeping. * Performs routine maintenance tasks as required to assure proper functioning of the wastewater treatment and batch treatment systems. * Assists in maintaining RO/DI water quality. * Storm water sampling as required. * Supports manufacturing and environmental, health and safety requests, as directed by manager. * Keeps accurate records of daily activities and effluent quality. * Strictly complies with environmental and safety regulations, policies, and procedures. Maintains a safe and clean work area. * Is on call and is available to come in early and/or stay late as requested by manager. Employee must provide a telephone number in which management can expect a call back within 1 hour. Essential Knowledge and Skills: The successful candidate will be a hands-on, success driven individual with: * Minimum of one year related experience. * High School education or equivalent * Clean DMV record. Forklift knowledge. * Working knowledge of chemical handling, equipment maintenance, waste treatment operations, processes, equipment, machinery, and terminology. * Familiar with regulations relating to waste treatment and general chemical handling. Knowledge of plumbing techniques and pump repair skills. * Ability to follow verbal and written instructions, and interface with co-workers and supervisors. * Must comply with TTM Export Control Policies and Procedures and all applicable laws including ITAR, EAR and OFAC including but not limited to: a) being able to identify ITAR product on the manufacturing floor and understand that access to these products and related technical data is restricted to only US Citizens and US Permanent Residents; b) recognition of Foreign Person visitors by badge differentiation. MENTAL AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS * MENTAL DEMANDS Mathematical ability sufficient to add, subtract, multiply divide, and figure averages. Good communication skills, as well as reading and writing abilities. Flexible, organized, able to prioritize work and multi-task. Able to work overtime to cover special projects, sick call in, vacations and weekend shifts. * PHYSICAL DEMANDS Able to lift 50 lbs, stand/walk > 90% of time, wear an air purifying respirator, and work with hazardous chemicals, and within a fume and odor environment. * EQUIPMENT USED AND NECESSARY Production equipment Forklift * ENVIRONMENT Production environment, noise and safety precautions must be taken at all times. Close proximity to chemicals used in production.
