SUMMARY

Alaska Industrial Hardware, a subsidiary of Bering Straits Native Corporation is currently seeking qualified Repair Center Technician. This position entails a high degree of attention to the task at hand in order to prevent injury to self or others, as well as company property. This position falls within the Medium/Heavy work category. One must be capable of exerting 40 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 25 to 40 pounds of force frequently and up to 25 pounds constantly to move objects. Employees must be able to work effectively in all temperature ranges and subject to ambient weather conditions. Employees must be able to remain standing and/or walking for a minimum of eight hours per day on non-forgiving concrete surfaces. One must professionally represent the company through responsible warehousing skills, professional appearance, and superior customer service.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform all repairs on heaters, pressure washers, nail guns, and other equipment as required using OSHA approved procedures.

  • Carry out preventive maintenance programs to ensure a safe and efficient operation. Comply with OSHA and other appropriate safety standards.

  • Prepare company required reports on labor and equipment repairs.

QUALIFICATIONS - EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION

Required (Minimum) Qualifications

  • Must have responsible work habits, a strong mechanical maintenance background and must be able to communicate effectively in a fast paced environment.

  • Must be capable of learning to use a computer system to input, track and invoice customer transactions.

  • Must be capable of over the counter transactions cash or credit card transactions.

  • Must be literate, well organized and capable of safely handling multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.

  • Must have a valid Alaska Drivers License with a clean driving record.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Possess the proper situational awareness to work safely in a warehouse environment where you and others are using and operating forklifts, pallet jacks, packaging machines, ladders, box cutters and other potentially dangerous equipment and tools.

  • Follow all safety rules and procedures and properly use all safety gear

  • Ability to read and write English

  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic operationsaddition, subtraction, multiplication, division

  • Legible handwriting

  • Ability to determine and differentiate quantities and units of measure such as pounds, pints, gallons, dozen, gross, etc. so as to determine proper piece count and to match paperwork with physical items and packaging

  • Possess a sense of responsibility and pride in work

  • Ability to follow directions from supervisors and seek assistance when needed

  • Ability to work well and clearly communicate with others

  • Ability to conduct operations in a manner that promotes safety

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to lift 50 pounds with frequent lifting and/or carrying objects weighing up to 25 pounds

  • Standing and walking for up to a full eight hour shift with occasional overtime

  • Frequent bending, reaching overhead, kneeling and squatting

  • Frequent climbing of ladders and stairs while carrying objects

  • Frequent pulling and stocking inventory items from roll-a-stairs and ladders

  • Frequent and often repetitive grasping, pushing and pulling objects

  • Must be able to work effectively in all temperature ranges and subject to ambient weather conditions. Must be able to remain standing and/or walking for a minimum of eight hours per day on non-forgiving concrete surfaces.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • No supervisory responsibilities.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFYING FACTORS

As a condition of employment, you are required to pass a pre-employment drug screening, as well as have acceptable references and background check. Must have reliable transportation to/from work.

This is a part time, variable shift position. This Transport and Logistics Center Technician will perform duties involving the movement of patients and equipment to and from inpatient units and patient care areas throughout the hospital as well as assist nursing personal with high needs patient lifts and other patient handling maneuvers. In this position you will: * Be responsible for independently transporting inpatients via wheelchair, stretcher, bed to and from clinical, ancillary and support departments throughout PAMC. * Be responsible for assisting with complex lifts defined as total body transfers. * Provide mentoring and support on Safe Patient Handling & Mobility equipment and practices. * Ensure patient safety during transport and lifts by using proper equipment and safety techniques. * Respond to emergent situations in a timely manner to assist as needed. * Manage workflow and respond to unit requests for services utilizing automated dispatching system TeleTracking. * Comply with isolation standards and equipment disinfecting techniques and guidelines. * Maintain hospital wide moveable patient care equipment inventory and delivery. Report equipment malfunction and facility issues appropriately.
