Purpose - Job Summary:

Responsible for tactical operations management or technical consultation on programs dealing with a product line for maintenance/repair of gas turbine engines/components/accessories in a manner that has a direct impact on program profitability.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities:(Not listed in order of importance. Other duties may be assigned.)

  • Manage program activities including: planning, leading, organizing and controlling such things as bids, proposals, budgets, strategies and customer relationship issues.

  • Compile and make presentations on program elements such as financials, schedules, quality performance, and customer feedback and relationships.

  • Prepare and present informational and decision briefings to program managers, contractors and engine OEM's.

  • Act as a primary managerial contact point between customers, sales managers, & other BBA/DAI operating groups, which specifically includes leading/attending/participating in program management reviews.

  • Oversee customer engine asset management including coordination of incoming and outgoing shipments.

  • Communicate and coordinate program start up review with other managers and supervisors including provisions for tooling and data as well as corporate safety policies and practices.

  • Oversee the contractual management of client engines through company maintenance/repair processes.

  • Work closely with areas such as Sales, Engineering, QC, Materials and Finance to ensure both customer & company requirements are met or exceeded.

  • Review analytical reports of such information as: log books; work-orders; product/engine input; gross margin analysis; invoice review; and service bulletin/O.E.M. review.

  • Oversee the assistance of customers with obtaining satisfactory credit/budget terms, coordinating with production to establish completion dates, and preparation/presentation of maintenance/ repair cost analysis.

  • Monitor costs of all engines/components on a weekly basis, update customers and sales representatives weekly on the status of the customer's engine and review final invoices for all engine and part work orders.

  • Provide for appropriate inspections following completion of engine repairs and modifications following their installation into the aircraft for final acceptance, airworthiness certifications and release to service.

  • May act as foreign object damage (FOD) prevention focal point and to ensure that production personnel adhere to FOD prevention procedures.

  • Ensure the proper staffing/training of operations positions with qualified and competent employees.

Primary Contacts/Interactions and Frequency: (Both Internal and External)

Maintain positive managerial, interpersonal and problem-solving relationships with employees, including executives, in all internal departments, governmental/military customers, agents, vendors and FAA personnel.

Dollar Accountability: (Budget/Revenue either Direct or Indirect)

Responsible for managing/proposing budgets for servicing of turbine engines or accessories and controlling replacement or repair expenses in assigned programs.

Education / Job Experience/Technical Knowledge Required: (Additional Competency List Attached)

Formal Education/Training:

College degree or high school graduate with a level of technical vocational training and knowledge normally achieved through graduation from a university, trade school or military aircraft maintenance program, or an equivalent apprenticeship program. Must have formal training in management skills and policies.

Direct /Indirect Experience:

Should have a minimum of 5-8 years of progressively more complex related production operations or commercial experience in the aviation/engine sales, service/maintenance industry.

Qualifications:(Including Licenses and Certifications)

Extensive technical knowledge of specific types and models of aircraft turbine engines and production operations.

Should be able to demonstrate reasonable PC proficiency in MS Office as well as learn any corporate or industry software used by the position.

Active membership in professional associations is desirable.

Under general direction of the VP, GM, or other delegated executives, provides daily, direct management and oversight of processes and problems in sensitive service environments while representing the company, using tact and diplomacy, where effective communication with customers and agency personnel is vital to success.

May occasionally exert up to (50-70) pounds of force occasionally to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Work involves walking, sitting, driving or standing for various periods of time required to manage work on equipment attached, or to be attached to aircraft.

Near clarity of vision required for close up engine and chart/document or report analysis.

Reaching: extending hands and arms in any direction.

Handling: seizing, holding, grasping, turning or otherwise working with hand(s).

Talking: expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word to impart oral information to convey detailed spoken instruction to other workers, customers or agents accurately, loudly or quickly.

Hearing: effectively perceiving the nature of sounds by ear.


The job requires a careful, constant diligence/attention in performing duties under high and complex mental stresses commonly associated with managing program operations activities dealing with high value, detailed mechanical/technical work, often in a time sensitive environment and using a senior level of knowledge and skills.

Most work is in a normal office environment but there are occasional trips to field areas, in hangars and on ramps where there is occasional exposure to outside weather conditions.

Must be able to travel between 25-50% of the time.
