Job Summary:

  • The HEDIS Medical Record Research Facilitator is to provide administrative, clerical, and scheduling support to HEDIS Abstractors conducting the Chart Review and Chart Abstraction portion of the HEDIS (Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set) Audit.
  • The Facilitator is responsible for providing advanced administrative and telephonic support for the Quality Improvement department in order to meet deadlines associated within the project.
  • The Facilitator will work under the direction of the Team Lead to assist with requests for deep-researched information by contacting provider practices.
  • They will coordinate with provider offices to verify information, transfer documents, schedule onsite visits if needed, and other administrative functions.
  • The nature of this position requires advanced reasoning and research abilities, but will also support more routine administrative requirements when work flow dictates.
HEDIS SpecialistBackground:
  • Requires an education level of at least a high school diploma or GED.
  • At least 2 years experience involving medical chart organization, chart review, or abstractions.
  • Prefer 1 season of direct HEDIS experience from the last 5 years.
  • Requires exceptional customer service skills (in person and telephonic), as well as very strong computer user skills.
  • Knowledgeable of the Health Plan Employer Data Information Set (H.E.D.I.S.), as well as standards and reporting requirements for Medicare, Medicaid, and applicable state plans.
  • Computer skills to include Electronic Health Records (EHR), Microsoft Word, basic data entry, and the ability to learn new and complex computer system applications.
  • Must have a minimum of 30-40 wpm typing with a high level of accuracy.
  • Must be willing and able to travel to area provider offices, as needed.

Position:Medical Record Review Nurse Position Summary:The Medical Record Review Nurse will work with the Quality Improvement team to collect member records and conduct a review of the records for the health plan's HEDIS project. The nurse will contact providers to schedule reviews and enter the results of any review into a specific database. Medical record reviews are conducted on site in provider offices, hospitals or other healthcare entities. Local travel may be required. The candidate will be required to handle telephonic interaction with provider offices related to the reviews. The nurse must keep excellent documentation of research and contact information. The nurse must participate in training and must pass a medical record review abstraction test prior to starting actual record reviews. The nurse will be required to maintain consistent reliability rating of 95% or greater. Job Description: * Please note, this position may be remote. Role and Responsibilities: * Contact provider offices to establish appointment time to complete medical record reviews. * Complete comprehensive and thorough medical record review to extract medical record data per NCQA specifications for the health plan's HEDIS project. * Enter record review results into NCQA certified software. * Conduct investigation to identify potential locations for medical records. * Maintain confidentiality of Protected Health Information according to HIPAA guidelines and Essence Healthcare policy. Experience, Qualifications and Education: * Associates Degree in a healthcare related field; Bachelor's Degree preferred * 3+ years of experience in acute healthcare setting * 3+ years of experience with HEDIS Medical Record Review * Unrestricted Missouri/Illinois licensure as a Registered Nurse or LPN * Proficiency in MS Office applications * Knowledge of CPT codes, ICD-9 Diagnosis codes and HEDIS Technical Specification Requirements related to the HEDIS measures for data extraction. * Effective written, oral and interpersonal communications skills. * Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
