Qualifications:

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine

  • License in good standing with applicable state veterinary board

  • Comfortable providing services (vaccinations/blood draws/microchipping) in front of clients

  • Excellent bedside manner

  • Able to provide services in a fast paced environment

VIEW JOBS 10/12/2018 12:00:00 AM 2019-01-10T00:00 The Davis College of Agriculture, Natural Resources & Design is seeking applications for a Clinical Assistant Professor of Veterinary Sciences in the Farm Administration and Operations at West Virginia University located in Morgantown, WV. This is a twelve-month, non-tenure-track position divided among 70% on-farm clinical responsibilities and 30% teaching. Evaluation will be the responsibility of the Associate Dean of Programs and non-tenure-track positions are eligible for promotion. The initial salary shall be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Clinical Responsibilities: The successful candidate will: Provide primary coverage, including call, for the veterinary care program and clinical treatment to include herd health, medicine, and surgery of livestock and poultry located on Davis College of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Design farms in Morgantown, Reedsville, and occasionally other college farms at greater distance depending on needs. This would include the supervision of the veterinary technicians assigned to the farms. Additionally, the incumbent will provide assistance and training to farm staff, students, in management herd/flock health and serve as a member of the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee, pending appointment. Teaching: The successful candidate will: Teach the equivalent of ~10 credit hours per year, coordinated with the Division Director of Animal and Nutritional Sciences, which may include: * Courses related to large animal veterinary medicine * Advising undergraduate students in the Davis-Michael pre-veterinary program * Assisting in teaching animal production and animal science laboratories at the farm, as well as have the potential to help develop a veterinary technician licensing program Individuals who apply on or before November 1, 2018 will receive first consideration. * Applicants must have a DVM or equivalent (DVM/MS and/or PhD preferred) with specialization and interest in food animals. * Must have a West Virginia veterinary license or be eligible for temporary West Virginia licensure and attain West Virginia licensure within six months of employment. * The successful applicant will have excellent oral and written communication skills and will interact effectively with faculty, farm staff, students and stakeholders. * Candidate must have a strong interest in veterinary medicine and surgery and teaching undergraduate/graduate students. * The ability to coordinate and facilitate effective student internship experiences, and experience providing clinical care for traditional livestock species are crucial. * Applicants must possess a valid driver's license. * Applicants must provide a resume, cover letter, and references.
