Qualifications:

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine

  • License in good standing with applicable state veterinary board

  • Comfortable providing services (vaccinations/blood draws/microchipping) in front of clients

  • Excellent bedside manner

  • Able to provide services in a fast paced environment

VIEW JOBS 10/14/2018 12:00:00 AM 2019-01-12T00:00 Description SUMMARY: The Relief Plant Operator operates and maintains stationary engines and mechanical equipment, such as chillers, pumps, compressors, generators, and steam boilers to provide for utilities such as light, heat, and power for refrigeration, air conditioning and other services for the hospital. The relief plant operator is a full-time position and will be scheduled to work "as needed" to help cover staff vacations, sick leave, etc. throughout the year. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: * Performs routine maintenance, lubrication, cleaning of boilers and boiler room equipment on a daily basis * Inspects the equipment and the operation of the boiler room periodically to see that safety regulations are met and efficient operations are maintained * Tests boiler and cooling tower water condition and adds chemical treatment to maintain proper limits and to prevent deposits * Starts, stops, adjusts, and regulates mechanical equipment such as engines, compressors, generators, pumps, and steam boilers during the respective shift * Checks water level in boilers routinely and tests low water cut out once a day * Observes meters, recorders, pressure gauges, and manipulates valves to bring readings within specified requirements * Periodically checks all mechanical rooms during the respective shift recording readings in a log book or on other forms * Inspects equipment while in operations and makes minor repairs and/or adjustments when necessary * Provides repair service to other areas of the hospital on an irregular basis * Insures that equipment operating on time programs is in the correct operating mode * Assists Plant Operations Mechanic with making repairs on pumps, air compressors, vacuum pumps, boilers, and other related mechanical equipment * Assists HVAC Mechanic with making repairs on air handling units, replacing fan shafts, blower wheels, drain pans, bearings, sheaves, belts, etc * Performs periodic testing of the fire alarm system, smoke detectors, duct detectors, strobes, dampers, and tamper switches * Performs preventative maintenance on air handlers and exhaust fans Minimum Requirements EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE: * High School graduate with good reading and writing skills * Previous two years experience in operating plant equipment such as boilers, chillers, generators, and compressors EQUIPMENT OPERATED: * Computer * Various PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS: * Medium Work as defined by the U.S. Department of Labor constitutes a maximum lift of 21-50 pounds on occasion and/or a maximum lift of 11-25 pounds on a frequent basis * May be required to assist in the turning, lifting, or moving patients as well as walking about from patients' rooms, as well as to and from various hospital areas Lafayette General Health (LGH) is a healthcare system striving to build a regional healthcare network that delivers excellence in care and outcomes.
