Job Description

This is a work from home position with 50% travel (typically Mon

  • Fri 2 weeks per month) in North America.

Position Purpose:

The Reliability Manager designs, develops, and implements reliability initiatives across key strategic project locations across Veolia North America.

The key objective of these sites is to improve safety, reliability, and plant uptime by applying the most cost-effective maintenance strategies using Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM), preventing recurring failures, using Root Cause Analysis and optimizing other processes related to maintaining these sites.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Create compelling case studies and devise value engineering solutions to showcase innovative approaches.

  • Implement Asset hierarchies in new and existing projects.

  • Collaborate closely with Maintenance, Engineering, and Operations Managers to explore and implement cost-effective solutions that enhance equipment plant reliability and boost overall plant efficiencies.

  • Deliver comprehensive training sessions and take charge of root cause failure analysis (Cause Mapping) and RCM initiatives as needed.

  • Lead cross-functional teams continuously reviewing and enhancing a unit's existing Preventive Maintenance/ Predictive Maintenance (PM/Pd.M.) program.

  • Drive the identification and resolution of top failure causes highlighted in reliability reports.

  • Performed gap analysis and coached the Maintenance departments in improving planning and scheduling.

  • Lead the execution of Reliability and Maintenance initiatives throughout VNA, reporting directly to the Reliability & Maintenance Director.

  • Formulate and execute comprehensive Reliability and improvement plans tailored for VNA, aiming to boost plant uptime and curtail maintenance expenses.

  • Develop and implement condition assessment methods/Develop a working understanding of predictive technologies, vibration analysis, ultrasonic analysis, thermography, PdMA, oil analysis, corrosion detection, and dissolved gas analysis, among others.

  • Guide the development and implementation of planned Maintenance and predictive programs within intricate projects.

  • Collaborate with internal and external consultants to advocate and implement initiatives, offering valuable support through training sessions and shop floor workshops.

  • Facilitate Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) workshops in intricate plant operations, fostering a proactive approach to asset management.

  • Conduct thorough Failure Analysis on critical assets and equipment, identifying root causes of failures and devising enhancements to forestall future incidents.

  • Create essential Reliability Indicators and analytics by harnessing data from the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and external reliability databases.

  • Execute Reliability, Availability, and Maintainability (RAM) Analysis in complex plant operations, pinpointing critical spare parts, identifying maintenance and operational constraints, and addressing plant efficiency bottlenecks.

  • Collaborate closely with Senior Maintenance & Operations Managers/Reliability Managers, the corporate reliability group, and the operations organization to formulate and steer the reliability program.

  • Support capital projects by actively engaging in Reliability and Maintainability studies at various project stages, offering insights to optimize plant efficiency and attain expected outcomes.

  • Perform AMMA (Asset Management Maturity Assessments) across the VNA Business Units to increase Asset management awareness, assess current maturity level on the fundamentals of asset management, evaluate the gaps towards a targeted level of service, and minimize plant risks, equipment condition reviews, and work management processes.

  • Lead the lubrication program effectiveness and the hydraulics improvement plan.

  • Facilitates Asset Criticality Analysis across simple to very complex projects.

  • Undertake any other duties as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and a proactive approach to contribute effectively to the team's success.

Qualifications

Education/Experience/Background:

  • BS degree in engineering (preferred, mechanical, electrical, chemical)

  • Master in Engineering preferred.

  • 8+ years of experience as a Maintenance Manager, Supervisor, or Reliability Engineer.

  • Process oriented. Desirable experience driving Asset Risk Management projects.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Knowledge of complex engineering concepts, practices, and procedures.

  • Experience working with preventive and predictive maintenance techniques is an asset.

  • Able to communicate effectively with co-workers and supervisors to ensure that projects are completed safely and efficiently.

  • Data analyst and new processes developer/adapter

  • Self-starter. Strong evidence of driving goals with minimal day-to-day supervision.

  • Exposure to Lean Concepts, Reliability, layout design, cost/benefit analysis, labor productivity analysis (time studies, standardized work), and safety/ergonomic/human factors.

  • Motivated and dynamic person with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Technically oriented (engineering focus)

  • Resourceful and proactive

  • Preferred STLE (Society of Tribologist and Lubrication Engineers).

  • Good interpersonal skills

  • Self Motivated and Self-disciplined
  • Skilled in CAD, Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint a must

  • Good Communication skills

  • Good listening and interpretation skills; communicate effectively; reads and comprehends drawings, graphs, and charts.

  • Comfortable communicating at all levels of the organization

  • Knowledge of project management processes.

  • Think systematically and methodically - logically to evaluate situations, solve problems, and make decisions. Detail-oriented.

  • Computer literate - possesses good computer skills, i.e., MS Word, MS Excel, Google Docs, Google Sheets, etc.

  • Possess strong working knowledge of VAMs or other CMMS and good command of MS Excel, MS Project, or similar.

Required Certification/Licenses/Training:

  • Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional (or similar), i.e., CMRP, CRL, ASQ, STLE.

  • Project Management Professional PMP.

  • AVSIM or RAMs modeling training.

  • RCM Facilitator training or similar.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment:

  • Remote position with a travel requirement of 30 - 50%.

  • Professional business atmosphere.

  • Commitment to quality and the motivation and ability to work well in a team environment required.

  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment

  • Occasionally walks around the office to printers, copy and fax machines.

  • Constantly sits while working at the computer.

  • Commitment to travel to remote plant sites and understand the risks of working in Hazardous waste environments and chemicals exposition.
