An ATS internship is designed to identify dedicated, professional college students with high potential who will work in a learning position within the company on a temporary basis. The internship could be located at our corporate office in Peoria, IL, our regional office in Greenville, SC, or at any of our customer factory sites across the country or even across the world. Possible rotations could be in New Site Start-up, Service/Quality, Six Sigma, Supply Chain, IT, Safety, Sales or other Operational roles and projects. Throughout the program, intern will gain exposure to many facets of our quickly growing business.

Scope: Works independently to provide process engineering support to improve the operation of enclave locations. Is a recognized technical expert providing creative process engineering solutions for operational problems. As a technical expert, also provides process training to targeted North Region Facilities.. Description The Sr OES Process Engineering Consultant role supports multiple facets of ASU plant operations, specifically focused on larger enclave sites (CAPOC & DAPOC). The primary role is to help enclave sites improve operational efficiency, by reducing variable costs, as well as troubleshooting operational situations and supporting productivity initiatives and definition of in-plant projects. This position functions independently, including working with minimal supervision, on complex problems, driving development of new efficiency improvement ideas. The role is also accountable for ensuring that those operating facilities are in conformance with all elements of ASU process safety, most often through technical reviews of MOCs. This position is recognized as a process technical expert for the larger USIG operations group, and provides process training for both operations technicians, plant engineers, plant management and other process engineers. This role will also lead process optimization support for North Region enclave sites, both at a strategic (longer term) as well as a tactical (shorter term) level. The role will be required to utilize a variety of engineering tools including: process models, historical operating data, statistical analysis tools, valve sizing software (both control and safety relief valves) and simulation/equipment design software. This role will also provide support as needed for the rare gas operations across the USIG fleet. The Process Engineer will ultimately interface with Operations technicians, Operations management, Global Supply Systems Engineering, Global Operations Excellence, and other support personnel within Operations, and Praxair Productivity personnel. PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES: * Provide hands-on process troubleshooting support to operational facilities to resolve issues related to operational distress. * Defines innovative process engineering approaches to support operational efficiency improvements. * Provide engineering assistance for plant turnarounds and/or plant thaws. * Provide support for rare gas operations as requested. * Provides support for key operations fundamentals such as operations training, SOP, etc * Participate in Root Cause Analysis problem resolution sessions, as necessary * Identify productivity improvement opportunities, both internally developed as well as from other stakeholders, and drive them through the approval process * Provide benefits analysis evaluation for various cost reduction and productivity improvement projects. * Monitors ASU operational data to drive optimal operation. * As requested, validates operational data for monthly KPI reporting. * Interfaces with internal and external customers/suppliers. * Provide process engineering training and support for USIG plant technicians and the OES process team. * Works with ASU facilities to ensure sites are in compliance with process safety standards and policies (eg. MOCs, Critical Safety Systems, SA-39's, SA-40's, etc.) * B.S. or M.S. in Engineering or equivalent with 10-15 years of experience in the chemical process industry * Demonstrated experience using process simulation software * Higher level PC usage skills, (Spreadsheets, data analysis software) * Plant start-up/troubleshooting experience * Demonstrated ability to work with multiple customers (internal/external) * Position typically requires up to 25% travel and periodic after-hours support Praxair, Inc.
