Our Job

Koch Ag & Energy Solutions (KAES) is looking for a driven individual for a Reliability Engineer / Specialist role in our Operations Services team who will provide engineering and inspection support for a fleet of fertilizer terminals within North America. This role creates significant value for the business by ensuring the reliability, integrity, and safety of all vessels, heat exchangers, furnaces, tanks, and piping systems within the terminal facilities.

The Operations Services team is primarily located in Wichita, KS and supports multiple KAES sites. This role is eligible for relocation.

Travel is 50% with decreased travel as relationships and familiarity is developed with the several facilities being supported. Travel is flexible depending on the needs at the business/site and controlled by the individual. This role offers a blended office/remote working model.

Our Team

The Operations Services team supports the multiple KAES facilities with various disciplines of expertise including project management, procurement, equipment engineering, process engineering, and data analytics. This role will join the equipment engineering team to support specific sites with equipment engineering and maintenance.

What You Will Do

  • Provide technical engineering support for site initiatives such as small projects, equipment modifications, and maintenance activities including inspection and testing of equipment.

  • Assist with the management of change process by reviewing plans and drawings.

  • Lead root cause analyses to identify the underlying causes of high impact equipment failures and recommend corrective actions to the site leadership team.

  • Collect and analyze reliability metrics to identify bad actors.

  • Manage and improve the implementation of mechanical integrity programs for fixed equipment mainly related to execution of inspection and testing tasks and developing corrective action plans for inspection findings.

  • Conduct fitness-for-service (FFS) and risk-based inspection (RBI) analysis to ensure equipment is operated in compliance with industry standards and regulations.

  • Serve on cross-site technical teams to ensure Koch's internal equipment engineering practices are competitive and up to date with industry practices.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including maintenance, operations, and other engineering disciplines to identify and address equipment-related challenges.

  • Business needs may require working during weekends and night shifts for limited periods within any given year

Physical Considerations

  • Ability to wear PPE in designated areas

  • Ability to climb up to 150 ft above ground level on occasion

  • Ability to make confined space entry

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, metallurgical engineering, materials engineering, or a related field OR 3+ Years experience in reliability engineering role in industrial manufacturing or related industry

  • Working knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)

  • Experience using either a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) or Inspection Database Management System (IDMS)

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Experience in reliability engineering in the chemical process industry

  • Knowledge of process industry codes and standards (API and ASME)

  • Experience performing and reviewing fitness-for-service assessments

  • Proficiency in using inspection and reliability software and tools for data analysis
