Responsibilities

THIS IS WHAT YOU'LL DO:

As a Reliability Engineer focusing on mechanical systems, you will:

• Design reliability into hydrogen refueling infrastructure and Hyla-branded fueling stations.

• Collaborate with a world-class team of operations staff and subject matter experts (SMEs) to solve technical problems.

• Serve as the reliability risk expert to the Hyla operations team and as Nikola's SME on reliability specifications when dealing with vendors, partners, and customers.

• Manage change and work orders to improve current product reliability and ensure that lessons learned are applied to future product specifications.

Qualifications

THIS IS WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

• Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent.

• 5+ years of experience with high pressure systems and rotating mechanical equipment and an interest in reliability.

• Experience facilitating FMEA sessions, leading cross functional teams and facilitating root cause analysis.

• Knowledge of degradation of mechanical & structural components, physics of failure, mechanics of materials, fracture mechanics and mechanical design, Highly Accelerated Testing methods, and governing equations for different failure mechanisms.

• Desire to influence supplier selection to provide clear guidance on reliability requirements.

• Desire to contribute to a respectful, fun, inclusive, and inspiring team culture

PREFERRED SKILLS:

• Experience in reliability testing and developing new testing methods.

• Proficiency in reliability statistics, including Weibull Analysis, and statistical software such as JMP or ReliaSoft.

• Expertise in accelerated-life-test development methods for components.

• Working knowledge of vibration analysis, metallic and plastic part design, and manufacturing processes.

• Proficiency in CAD software and failure analysis techniques.
