Once full operations commence, Golden Pass LNG will become the second largest consumer of natural gas in the US and produce more than 200 cargos of LNG per annum.

Job Summary / Purpose

Golden Pass LNG is seeking a Reliability Engineer/Lead to join our Engineering team. This role reports to the Reliability Engineering Supervisor and will support the Golden Pass Pipeline, Export / Import Terminal and Plant Facilities. Work location is Beaumont / Sabine Pass based on work demands and activities. The Reliability Engineer is responsible for closely working with the Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering departments to support the safe and sustainable realization of asset reliability and equipment availability targets and other critical KPIs. This position leads development of reliability principles, processes, and tools/technology for reliability improvement and stewardship such as Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA), Bad Actor tools, and reliability KPI's. The Reliability Engineer identifies potential risks to our operations and works across Operations, Maintenance, and other Engineering disciplines to develop and steward corrective actions to closure.

Essential Duties / Functions

1.Reliability Leadership and Strategic Priorities

  • Set a strategic vision for reliability program which will relentlessly pursue a reduction in unscheduled loss events and equipment failures and inspire support across functions.

  • Apply PDRR (Prevent, Detect, Respond, and Recover) framework and coach organization on applications of reliability.

  • Facilitate a culture of asset ownership and proactive reliability focus.

  • Establish reliability reporting and meeting cadences for updates.

  • Coordinate across functions, helping each to deliver functional excellence through guidance.

  • Work with Asset Level Team (ALT) to build out and then steward KPIs with Benchmarks and Targets to define metrics for reliability success.

  • Establish accurate and impactful methods for granular equipment downtime reporting and associated volume impact reporting to facilitate easy understanding of downtime causes and corrective action.

  • Establish and subsequently lead RCFA and Bad Actor program stewardship and reporting, as well as action development, RBWS and closure plans.

  • Steward/coordinate reliability improvement initiatives and projects. Work with cross-functional leads to set realistic scopes, timelines and resource requirements.

  • Ensure ALT visibility of reliability/availability risks and impact (e.g., list of open or overdue ES tasks/PM's with risks)

  • Identify and proactively address systemic opportunities for reliability improvement

  • Train new users on reliability and maintenance systems, work processes, and tools and encourage continuous efficiency improvements in these areas

2.Reliability Tools, Data, and Improvement

  • Leverage data capture (SAP, PCMS, PI, EC etc.) and develop digital tools/analytics as well as simple summarized reporting measures to drive improved reliability and maintenance practices.

  • Analyze KPIs and data sets to diagnose conclusions on problems and improvement actions.

  • Assist in creating value estimates to guide prioritization of opportunities.

  • Identify and develop solutions for data gaps, needed tools, and needed workflows.

  • Promote ALT learning and improvement by ensuring RCFA quality.

  • Finalize and continuously improve RCFA manual and Bad Actor program.

  • Leverage Lean Thinking/Six Sigma to identify and support development of continuous improvement opportunities across Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and SSHE

3.Reliability and Maintenance Optimization (Work Selection, Maintenance Effectiveness, Equipment Strategies)

  • Work closely with ALT and Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering teams to support optimization of availability, reliability, and cost at an acceptable level of risk consistent with ALT objectives.

  • Support ALT to ensure that reliability decisions are made consistent with long-term stable and cost-effective performance balanced with Production targets.

  • Support development of the Annual Maintenance Plan for ALT and apply RBWS to enable balance reliability/cost prioritization.

  • Support Maintenance in delivering long term equipment availability and cost management through development of a of a thorough Annual Maintenance Plan using Risk Based Work Selection (RBWS) principles and drive accountability.

  • Support ALT reviews with respect to FIMS, Work Selection priorities, break-ins, and "pull forward" work. Support work selection and calibrate risk, including understanding backlog and any required adjustments to work selection criteria and priorities.

  • Support maintenance efficiency improvement by ensuring ALT compliance to Break-in criteria and barrier elimination. Work with Maintenance team to identify and execute efficiency improvements. Analyze causes of work disruptions/barriers and assist maintenance in driving continuous improvement.

  • Analyze maintenance versus reliability performance on an ongoing basis and work with Maintenance team on any corrective actions.

  • Support Maintenance in schedule planning optimization, including seasonalization and opportunistic efficiencies. Support PM/downtime deferral analysis and approvals, as well as optimization of required equipment downtime activities.

  • Support ALT on effective reliability/financial risk management and decision making, including equipment strategy interpretation, risk screenings, life cycle cost analyses, sparing and SPOF analysis.

  • Supports cross functionally within the ALT to ensure:

  • Proper risk screening for maintenance work

  • Maintenance backlog does not hold an unacceptable level of risk.

  • Reliability improvement at the lowest life cycle cost through effective development and implementation of Equipment Strategies

  • Bad actor improvement with plans developed and executed in support of the ALT objectives.

  • Low-cost, high-quality repairs and efficient/effective work execution

  • Understanding of Process Safety risks and how they are affected by equipment reliability.

  • Management of other SSHE risks such as inspection findings, deferred work risk escalation, etc.

  • Support optimization of Equipment Strategies, sparing philosophies, and any associated updates

  • Maintain and drive an evergreen reliability improvement plan based off thorough analysis (including SAP preventative and corrective maintenance activities).

4.Reliability Base Operations and Project Support

  • See "Reliability Leadership" section for key base operations responsibilities.

  • Support and lead (where needed) investigation teams for reliability events, including charter development. Provide guidance on best practices investigation methodologies such as RCFA. Steward action item closeout and other recommended improvement strategies

  • Conduct analysis of reliability impacts due to proposed facility changes (MOC) as well as new Projects (front-end reliability reviews)

  • Support development of any mitigation measures for these changes in partnership with associated Operations, Maintenance, Engineering and Projects teams.

  • Update RAM (Reliability, Availability, Maintainability) analysis as required.

  • Monitor and analyze equipment health / reliability, working across Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering

  • Leverage reliability data to identify and support development of needed Respond and Recover (Crash Plans) in partnership with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering and SSHE. Support continuous improvement and validation of current Respond and Recover plans.

  • Lead Bad Actor identification and monitoring through support of Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering

  • Lead and participate in reliability audits/reviews and risk/opportunity identification workshops.

5.Reliability Impacts to Production Planning and Forecasting

  • Support Production Engineering to gather and manage the required reliability and availability assumptions on facility performance for timely input to the daily production and feed gas forecasting process and Annual Delivery Plan process.

  • Participate in strategy planning with the Operations team, propose corrective measures to overcome the limitations and deficiencies to ensure targets are met.

  • Support Production Engineering in building and maintaining real time, online, surveillance and monitoring models to optimize the Availability and Performance of the Facility LNG Liquefaction Train.

  • Identify risks that could impact Availability and Reliability and develop mitigation plans to address them.

  • Support the preparation of Production performance summaries for the facility, summarizing data on total production, capacity utilization, operating reliability, unit efficiency, production loss/downtime categories and quantities, and energy utilization.

6.Reporting and Benchmarking

  • Lead periodic (weekly/monthly/annual) reliability reporting and overall system reviews with Leadership Team.

  • Develop and maintain Reliability status dashboards as needed by management, depicting all critical information and data for end users. This includes explaining and publishing performance KPI's to Asset Team leadership (e.g. - availability, RCFA status, PM completion/compliance versus targets, Failed Inspection metrics, Break-in work, critical spares tracking, alarm management, Equipment Trips and Causes, Bad Actors, Emerging Threats, Incidents).

  • Support Production Engineering in production reporting and loss accounting systems.

  • Support development and data validation for benchmarking performance against other LNG operators.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

Minimum education required of the position.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Process/Chemical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil/Structural Engineering, Materials Engineering or a related field of study.

Minimum experience required of the position.

  • Expect 10-15+ years of experience working as an Engineer supporting Oil & Gas site Operations, ideally with LNG experience.

Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position.

  • Strong understanding of Facility Integrity Management Systems (FIMS) or similar programs

  • Previous experience in applying PDRR (or similar) concepts

  • Understanding of defining and applying equipment criticality

  • Previous experience in equipment strategy and maintenance plan development, stewardship, and optimization

  • Previous experience with availability, reliability, and downtime reporting (including understanding of volume impacts)

  • Demonstrated ability to leverage life cycle cost analysis tools, including selection of critical-to-quality variables, sources of data, etc. to guide selection of competing options to resolve reliability or performance issues on equipment.

  • Demonstrated ability to use data from systems such as SAP, PI, SCADA, etc. to enable more advanced optimization of work scope, cost/benefit, frequency, etc.

  • Previous experience with RCFA / Bad Actor Programs (or similar) for failures and/or equipment reliability troubleshooting

  • Familiarity with Lean / Six Sigma methodologies.

  • Demonstrated ability to drive accountability and influence without authority, such as with action/improvement scoping, scheduling, and execution

  • Effective communication to create clarity on issues, priorities, and action stewardship

  • Previous experience with leading (formally or informally) cross functional improvement programs/initiatives. Able to lead and motivate team members, along with mentorship

  • Previous experience leveraging digital tools to create value in the context of maintenance or reliability.

  • Demonstrated ability to use emerging technologies to drive continuous improvement

  • Exposure/understanding of the cryogenic natural gas processing, with preference in LNG; however, NGL or other hydrocarbon processing experience may be acceptable.

  • Demonstrated ability to conduct work in an efficient and timely manner.

  • Strong computer skills, including MS Office

  • Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Strong analytics skills. Familiarity with Reliability Tools for Investigation (Taproot, Apollo, etc.), Statistical Analysis (JMP, Python, etc.), System Modeling (Milsoft, ACSELERATOR, SKM, Quickset, etc.)

  • Ability to work autonomously.

  • Ability to work well with diverse and multidisciplinary teams with strong interpersonal skills.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card in good standing status.
