Life Cycle Engineering (LCE) is responsible for ensuring our products are Safe, Reliable, Maintainable and delivered on time. Life Cycle Engineering consists of multiple disciplines that support engineering, our program offices and our customers. Our Life Cycle Engineering disciplines participate in the total life cycle of our products from conception to deactivation. Our focus area is product support, including the following disciplines: Reliability, System Safety and Supportability.

Job Summary:

The Electro-Optical Infrared Systems (EOIR) LCE department in the Advanced Products & Solutions (APS) business has an immediate opportunity for a Reliability Engineer supporting sustainment efforts.

As a Reliability Engineer II, you're responsible for influencing the reliability of multiple categories of systems and/or products throughout the product life cycle. In this role, you'll work with cross functional teams to develop solutions impacting the reliability of the system on product support and sustainment efforts.

As a member of the Reliability Engineering organization, you'll use both commercial and company-developed Failure Reporting, Analysis and Corrective Action System (FRACAS) and engineering tools to help with analyzing field and depot failures, prioritizing failure impact, communicating reliability issues, and driving Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) efforts.

Accurate, concise communication while demonstrating the ability to work with a wide range of people and engineering disciplines is essential.

In this role, you'll be part of a team providing technical solutions that are impactful and practical for maintaining or improving the reliability and Life Cycle Cost (LCC) of the product.

This job is based in McKinney, TX.

This position is designated as HYBRID. Commuting costs to and from the McKinney, TX facility are the responsibility of the incumbent.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:

Responsibilities include the following:

  • Using your ingenuity and creativity to develop solutions to routine technical problems related to product reliability.

  • Contributing to completion of technical tasks in a collaborative environment

  • Performing reliability analyses (including Hours Per Unit analysis, failure trending, RCCA) as applicable

  • Participating in team failure investigations through active management of the Failure Reporting and Corrective Action System (FRACAS)

  • Participating in Failure Review Board (FRB) meetings to discuss details of fails and failure trending

  • Participate in customer meetings as applicable

  • Involvement with supplier interface to resolve reliability issues

Basic Qualifications:

  • Typically Requires: Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) and a minimum 2 years of relevant engineering experience

  • Experience in a manufacturing or depot environment

  • Experience with Failure Reporting, Reliability Analysis, and/or Corrective Actions

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with shop floor management systems such as PRISM or SAP

  • Experience working with the Department of Defense (DoD) customer community (US Army, US Air Force, US Navy)

  • Ability to apply Reliability principles during either development, production or sustainment program phases

  • Proactive and effective in addressing issues with program design and production support teams

  • Experience with Six Sigma or similar continuous improvement structure

  • Basic understanding of technical theories and concepts in the reliability field

  • Experience in gathering and analyzing data from a variety of sources

  • Experience in cross functional team environments

  • Ability to function well in a dynamic multi-tasking environment

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work well with all organizational levels and other engineering disciplines

  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office software suite, especially Excel

The salary range for this role is 64,000 USD - 128,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
