About the Role

We currently have a Release Lead opportunity available within the Payments - Wholesale Digital Tech Area, where the goal is to support the missions of our Tech Area.

Working with the Institutional business, our Tech Area help them plan for and deliver their customer outcomes more effectively. This involves a blend of 'hands on' delivery planning & co-ordination across tribes and areas, as well as a delivery coaching and 'connectivity' dimensions working closely with our partnering tribes and squads.

Initially this role will work with the Transaction Banking business but there is the opportunity for future flexibility within our Chapter, as we work together to support the outcomes of our DDTB Tech Area.

What will your day look like?

  • Work with Tribe Performance Lead and Technology Area Architect to develop solutions that map to release value; understanding what is foundational, what is "core" to releasing value and what is "gold-plating".

  • Assess MVP for do-ability and relevance towards strategic outcomes.

  • Assess size of work package and influence value creation of release.

  • Develop an iterative plan inclusive of schedule, staffing and success release criteria.

  • Co-ordinate across a range dependencies to balance release planning with organisational priorities.

  • Understand and resolve complex interdependencies.

  • Develop and present complex schedule and dependency plans.

  • Systematically identify and analyse user groups to plan and conduct release engagement interactions.

  • Co-ordinate and/or execute moderate to complex pre-deployment activities, e.g. code scan, vulnerability scan and Pen testing etc.

  • Co-ordinate and/or execute moderate to complex deployment activities into production, e.g. Code deployment.

  • Co-ordinate and/or execute moderate to complex post production verification activities, e.g. Business Verification Testing.

  • Co-ordinate disaster recovery, change and capacity plans.

  • Support recovery of Production and/or implementation issues.

  • Leverage business acumen and technical knowledge to influence outcomes and deliver value for a release.

  • Assist business with complex risk profiling - identify and assess risks and controls.

  • Ensure Technology Areas have the right tooling and schedule release model in place to ensure outcomes are delivered on time.

  • Work with the Tribe Release Lead chapter and Platform Release Lead chapters (in a Chapter of Chapter approach) to contribute to and support the maturing of our approach and capabilities to benefit our Tech Area and the Tribes we work with.

  • Engage with colleagues and peers across the Institutional Division (via a Guild framework) to share learnings and insights.

What will you bring?

To grow and be successful in this role you will ideally bring the following:

  • Overall experience of 14+ years with relevant experience in transaction banking, cash management systems, payments, collections, Charges & Billing domain for Institutional customers.

  • Demonstrated competency to deliver large changes spanning across multiple business units covering end to end planning, change management, financial management, stakeholder management, vendor resource management, initiative management.

  • Experience working in an agile environment, at scale (5-10 years)

  • Experienced with complex platform-based technology "stacks"

  • Demonstrated competency to deliver business outcomes of the various initiatives

  • Strong knowledge and understanding of business needs and technology domain

  • Ability to build and maintain current state awareness, relationships and connections across the technology landscape, using this to help tribes and squads to connect effectively with partnering teams and specialist subject matter experts from across the organisation to help optimise solution thinking and delivery.

  • Ability to inform business prioritisation decisions while establishing and maintaining a high level of customer trust and confidence

  • Ability to improve on existing processes to allow for improved delivery by influencing squad engineering practices

  • Be able to apply engineering principles and tools to effectively provision and co-ordinate complex interdependencies

  • Ability to develop and agree value for change initiatives and track value through execution

  • Able to introduce and efficiently use tools to forecast, manage and monitor spend against budgets and other framework delivery tools

  • Ability to mentor and manage resources and perform chapter lead responsibilities. Vendor Resource management.
