As an integral member of the Relationship Banking Team for Community West Bank, this position will provide extraordinary customer service to our clients, prospective clients, and internal team members responding to branch operations and customer service related questions and business opportunities in a professional and timely manner, setting an example to elevate and embody the Bank's Values Statement and our dedication to quality and service. This position will have direct responsibility as a Relationship Banking Team member to assist in the accomplishment of the Department's Business Plan goals and objectives that will provide for a high performance culture that emphasizes empowerment, quality, productivity, ethical standards, goal attainment and the ongoing development of CWB's vision to become the bank of choice, providing an unparalleled customer experience for our customers, employees and community.

JOB OVERVIEW/PURPOSE

The Relationship Manager will be responsible for meeting established and agreed upon business development goals that support the Regional Department's business plan in new production for loan and deposit relationships. Although supported by Credit Analysts, this position is ultimately responsible for credit quality and proper loan structure of small to more complex credits that supports the bank's safety and soundness and sustained profitability for the following: business term and lines of credit, commercial real estate, construction real estate loans, SBA, and agricultural loans. Additionally, position requires focus on non-interest bearing deposit growth and non-interest income (Treasury Management) or fee income commensurate with the banks balanced growth strategy. Incumbent must understand credit needs of the client, and be able to recommend proper credit structure to meet client's financial needs and deliver on commitments. The Senior Relationship Manager position will also manage the largest and most complex portfolio of clients, and may supervise other Relationship Managers and/or Loan Assistants. The position will also require proactive participation in industry groups and community civic events to promote bank products, services and brand to improve the quality of life in the communities we serve. This position performs all essential duties in compliance with regulatory requirements as well as Bank policies and procedures.

Essential Duties:

  • Responsible for managing a portfolio of business clients, bringing in and developing new relationships, as well as expanding the current/existing portfolio. Risk management is a significant part of the portfolio management.

  • Places goals of company foremost when interacting with others at all levels. Expresses ideas clearly in writing and verbally. Makes clear, concise presentations and demonstrates effective listening skills. Conveys necessary ideas and information to others.

  • Develops prospects from self-sourced leads and may include existing customers, referral leads, bank partners and other sources

  • Determines prospects/customers' financial needs, and present solutions to sell bank services. Is responsible for timely and adequate preparation of annual reviews and recommendation to the appropriate decision making bodies within the bank.

  • Required regular contact with customers to ensure strong loyalty to bank and ascertain additional financial needs, to ensure service satisfaction and to obtain referrals.

  • Prospect and acquire new business clients in accordance with bank's profit objectives.

  • Performs such functions as outbound prospecting calls, conducting prospect/customer interviews, facilitating credit requests from application to boarding, opening depository accounts, referring prospects to other business units and cross-selling other bank services.

  • Active involvement in local civic and nonprofit organizations to promote goodwill, bank's commitment to the communities it serves and to support bank's CRA objectives.

  • Contacts customers and businesses, community and civic organizations to promote goodwill and generate new business.

  • Attends sales and trade meetings to develop new business prospects.

  • Underwrite and analyze loan requests, emphasizing commercial loan applications, including the analysis of customer financial information and records.

  • Must demonstrate understanding of all loan products, policies, disclosures, and procedures.   • Meets response and resolution times as defined in service level agreements and/or service requests, and follows established processes to meet service level commitments

  • Completes all required regulatory training as assigned within deadlines established including BSA, Bank Security and any other training as assigned, within required timeframes and on an annual basis.

  • Additional assignments as designated by the SVP Regional Market Manager.

Experience and Skills

  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance or related field preferred and/or a combination with a minimum of 5 years progressively responsible experience in a similar lending environment or financial institution.

  • Minimum 5 years of direct experience managing a commercial loan portfolio and generating new business, including new lending and deposit relationships, for VP level Relationship Manager Position. Minimum 7 years of direct experience as indicated for Senior Relationship Manager Position.

  • Specific and demonstrated expertise in credit decisions and understanding of credit risk thresholds, and managing credit risk.

  • Proven ability to develop new bank business relationships and sustain current bank business relationships.

  • Experience with credit analysis and financial statement analysis.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, as well as organizational skills.

  • Ability to work independently.

  • Must possess good interpersonal skills and professionalism to represent the Bank to customers and to the general public

  • Ability to protect and maintain confidential information

  • Ability to complete tasks within prescribed time frames.

  • Ability to disseminate information and guidelines clearly to employees and check for understanding.

  • Ability to exercise good judgment and make sound decisions

  • Ability to work under pressure, prioritize and meet deadlines.

  • Professional in appearance and in verbal communication

  • Requires attention to detail and the ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written and oral form.

  • Ability to comprehend and apply Bank policies and procedures in the work environment

  • Proficient with: MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook, Internet

  • Ability to operate a variety of office machines, including 10-key calculator, personal computer, photocopier, fax machine, & scanner

  • Must be able to travel throughout the bank's footprint to perform required duties (more than 40%) as directed by your supervisor or as needed.

Job Benefits

Compensation: Salary ranges from $130,000 to 180,000 per year. The salary range is determined by the role, job duties, and position level and reflect the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries. Within the range, individual pay is determined by job - related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
