Global Provider Strategy (GPS): BlackRock has strategic relationships with dozens of key Provider Banks integral to our business operations. These institutions perform core fund accounting, asset custody, financial reporting, transfer agency and several trade operations services for BlackRock and our clients, critical to our daily operations. Our relationships with these Providers are long-term, are both strategically and operationally complex and are financially material to the firm's overall performance. We work with many of the most significant Service Providers in the post-trade asset servicing industry.

GPS drives strategic alignment between BlackRock and our Post Trade Partners through dynamic relationship and risk management. GPS is responsible for the firm's post-trade relationship strategy with our custodians, fund administrators and transfer agents. We create leverage and optionality and assure the delivery of high quality service at a competitive price.

The Role

We are looking for a career driven team player to join GPS as part of the Relationship Management team. This individual will be specifically challenged to own the Provider universe supporting BlackRock's rapidly expanding Alternatives business. The role will be responsible for fostering strategic partnerships with both existing and new Providers. This individual will drive strategic initiatives in close partnership with our internal business stakeholders and maintain optimal team to team engagement.

  • Key interface to Provider senior management teams;

  • Work proactively with internal constituents to evolve and execute on our relationship strategy;

  • Assure the appropriate leverage of our strategic Providers for Business Operations, as well as the rest of the firm;

  • Contribute to the refinement of BlackRock's post-trade landscape and provider operating model to gain optionality;

  • Proactively address systemic risks utilizing meaningful metrics and management information; Hold Providers accountable for the delivery of service excellence;

  • Keep abreast of industry developments and ensure BlackRock is well positioned to leverage the scale of our business model;

  • Lead or participate in Provider searches such as RFPs and RFIs;

  • Participate in cross functional working groups in the set up and creation of new products.

  • Drive commercial terms negotiations with respect to fees taking into consideration Provider costs structures, potential savings and broader enterprise-wide relationships;

  • Communicate relationship status to BlackRock executive leadership team members.

  • Partner with GPS team members and other channel partners to ensure day to day relationship management excellence;

  • Service Level Standards creation and agreement with providers

  • Ensuring service vendor management tasks are completed

  • Metric based service evaluation and associated meetings

  • Action tracking based on agreed changes from Quarterly Relationship Planning meetings and other key initiatives raised by functional groups and Providers

  • Aid in leading key initiatives that cross Providers and functional groups

  • Production of transparency tools such as relationship summaries/plans, monthly headlines, executive memos, call reports and other information sharing materials

  • Act as escalation point for recurring themes, issues and challenges

  • Promote the awareness of the GPS brand and value added capabilities across the firm

  • Drive results and deliver value for the business

Key competencies required for success in this role include:

  • BS/BA degree in accounting, finance, economics or a related field. [advanced degree preferred]

  • 7+ years of relevant investment industry experience with emphasis on Alternative investment (e.g. Hedge Fund, Private Equity; Real Estate) experience

  • General knowledge of all facets of the alternative administration process (e.g. legal entity set up, fund structuring, fund accounting, fee waterfalls, investor servicing, etc.)

  • Candidate must have knowledge of technical and regulatory issues affecting the alternative investment fund industry

  • The successful candidate will possess an ability to think creatively about future-state market evolution, new product development and customer/channel requirements such that he/she can identify business opportunities, articulate evolving priorities, and drive strategic programs that deliver ROI impact

  • The candidate must have professional depth and enthusiasm for data-driven strategy

  • Analytical ability to synthesize information and summarize issues. Attention to detail and ability to prioritize the most critical business issues.

  • Highly effective oral and written communication skills. Intellectual ability and interpersonal skills to establish credibility with senior managers and their teams.

  • Results driven, with a high degree of self-motivation

  • Resourceful, proactive team player, able to work with people of all levels

  • Ability to organize and manage multiple tasks in a professional, fast-paced environment.

  • Strong cross team relationship-building skills, capable of adapting style of communication to audiences of different technical knowledge and backgrounds

  • This role may require extensive, and in some cases global, business travel
