Rehabilitation Technician 2

The Position

Rehabilitation Technicians provide a broad variety of technical and clerical support to professional rehabilitation counseling staff and spend a preponderance of the time independently coordinating and ensuring the acquisition of required case documentation for disabled applicants during intake and eligibility processing. Incumbents also prepare, record and process authorizations and invoices for client services, and function as the office manager in a rural satellite office or metropolitan outreach office.

Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.

Rehabilitation Technicians are the agency's paraprofessional staff who, as directed by their Rehabilitation Counselor(s) conduct group or individual orientations based on the needs of the office; conduct person-centered intake interviews with prospective Vocational Rehabilitation clients; complete application inputting and prescreening; and maintain regular contact with applicants throughout the VR case. Rehabilitation Technicians complete case management duties whereby they coordinate evaluation appointments with state vendors; writes case notes; perform labor market research on vocational goals; initiate and accept phone calls on behalf of their Rehabilitation Counselor(s); and may perform receptionist duties.

Rehabilitation Technicians prepare, record, and process authorizations and invoices, referrals, logs, letters and other correspondence for client services. Rehabilitation Technicians maintain client case files in electronic and hard copy format to include the filing and labeling of all electronic correspondence; compile routine reports for program/Counselor performance analysis; and act as an office manager (where applicable). Rehabilitation Technicians provide quality customer service to internal and external customers and accept special projects that align with the agency's goals and objectives.
